Good stuff. Did you install the Stalker Complete mod though? If not, stop and install that and start over.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl. I really dig it so far.
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

Argh, don't show me that. My poor little laptop has enough trouble with the stock game (on highest settings at least).Hobie-wan wrote:Good stuff. Did you install the Stalker Complete mod though? Same here, even on my desktop. The game is very poorly optimized though... I won't say my machine is anything that great, but for instance I just got Bad Company 2 and it runs just fine on medium settings and 1680x1050. But yeah when I tried the Stalker Complete mod out, fire and particle effects like that completely destroyed the framerate, lol.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Argh, don't show me that. Yeah, its unfortunate that such a good game runs so bad.Xeogred wrote:Same here, even on my desktop. The game is very poorly optimized though... However, I just installed the mod and even on lower settings it looks better than the stock game. Thanks for the tip Hobie!

Yeah, but does the fire kill it? I'll be curious to hear if it does or not...
I think I keep holding off on playing Stalker though until I have a machine that can handle the Complete mod at max settings and everything, just seems like it'd make it a much better experience. And well I did watch a friend play a good chunk of it like that, so you could say he ruined it for me until then.

No problem. The mod fixes some balance issues and makes the game play better as well as the engine changes and texture upgrade. So yeah, you're better off playing with it installed and just cranked down a little.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: However, I just installed the mod and even on lower settings it looks better than the stock game. Oh man, I know Mark said he was having fun (after a while *cough*) in the game, but holy shit DEHR looks like it is every bit as terrible as the first game. Dumb AI, bad acting. Looks pretty sub par compared to all of those bullshots that have been floating around too.(-_-) wrote:Also started up Deus Ex because Human Revolution looks incredible and the trailers alone got me interested in the entire story of the series.

Been playing DXHR all night, and so far it's the sequel we wanted and got robbed of with IW.

I played the leak awhile back and thought it was pretty solid. To compare anything to the original is a joke, but yeah it's definitely a vast improvement over IW (even if I didn't hate IW, I mean really compare it to other stuff releasing at that time... it wasn't THAT bad!)
I dabbed a little into the first hub world but stopped there, didn't want to spoil much. That and it ran pretty bad on my PC, so I might just play a console release first sometime. I liked how it almost felt more Robocop than anything else though, lol.
