Thinking about, I would love to play burned PS1 on my PS3. It would be super special awesome. And perhaps Saturn and Dreamcast games from the discs I have....

There's a Saturn and a Dreamcast emulator. However the Dreamcast emulator will never be able to read your real discs. ISO and burns only. For obvious reasons.

This took me far too bloody long to get working, so appreciate it!!

Installable Gran Turismo 5 on XMB.

Backup your Gran Turismo 5 disc using a PS3 FTP server to your computer. I recommend Blackb0x FTP.

Download this: http://www.multiupload.com/EH8OQ9MFGG

Copy PKG to a memory stick and plug this into your PS3.

Install Package from XMB (requires 3.55 Geohot).

Run Gran Turismo 5 from the XMB, Don't worry if it black screens and you can't access XMB, it's supposed to do this.

Restart your PS3.

Open your FTP program again, and run your FTP server on PS3. Navigate to dev_hdd0/BCUS98114/USRDIR/

Copy the following files from your backed up GT5 disc: GT.VOL and the Movies folder. DO NOT COPY EBOOT.BIN. Leave the one that is already in there alone, this is the modified EBOOT.BIN that allows it to boot from the HDD.

Once this is complete. Exit your FTP Server and run the game from XMB. Cancel the update as this will overwrite the modified EBOOT.BIN and will stop the game booting and you will have to do the whole thing again.

Have fun. :)

Instead of FTP, is it possible to to install it on the PS3's HDD or a USB HDD??

This is how you install to the PS3's internal HDD, FTP is just a method of backing up your gamedisc. USB is not possible with this game anyway, since it has files larger than 4GB. The PS3 only understand FAT32 partitions and you can't put a file larger than 4GB on it.

So it sounds like yes, you could skip an intermediate step and back up the GT5 disc to a temp folder on the PS3 HDD, then copy it to the generated folder.

Probably old news by now to most here, but Sony's starting to respond the only way they know how to..

http://www.ps3-hacks.com/2011/01/11/ps3-legal-troubles-hackers-get-served-legal-docs/

What I don't understand is at this point, well, what's the point? The code's out there, the damage is done, and they're reverse-engineered security tripe could be installed on every unit across the globe and they wouldn't even know.. Why bother with petty lawsuits - just to make an example?
What more could anybody possibly do from here on out? The system is wide open, and Sony has no way of figuring out what anybody is running on their hdd's.

Oh... I thought it was to run the games off your PCs HDD and FTP them to the PS3 (I thought I saw a PS2 loader that worked that way).

I guess the PS3 right now can only use FAT32 for backups but that might change right? Because all of the PS3's HDDs are larger than 20GB.

Not shocking really and I'm surprised it took this long...

Just to confirm, since the "master keys" are out there, there is nothing Sony can do now (apart from PS3 genocide) to stop hackers/programmers from making stuff run on their system right??
