Going nontraditional. Grilling some filet mignon, chicken marinated in italian dressing, potato salad, fried cabbage, mac and cheese, green beans, bacon wrapped asparagus, corn, deviled eggs, and watching the Cowboys and all the other football games.

Nice! Damn, I shoulda boiled some eggs... Now I feel like having Deviled Eggs!

I'm also going nontraditional. I've been sick, and I decided to stay home today. So I'll be all by myself. But that's OK. I just don't feel like constantly coughing and sniffing over someone else's house. But since I only just decided this, I don't have a menu planned. So I mashed together a few things. It'll be a total bachelor's meal, but I think I'll enjoy it. I have Stoffer's Mac and Cheese. And frozen White Castle Cheeseburger Sliders (don't knock em - they're good!). I have some cardone (tastes like artichoke) already boiled, so I just have to bread and fry them. And I ran to the store this morning and found these pre-stuffed mushrooms that I just have to bake off. And I picked up a supermarket apple pie that probably isn't very good, but whatever!

Maybe if I boil a few eggs right now, I can stick them in the freezer to cool them down fast and get them deviled before dinner.

Can't beat White Castle, especially over dry turkey. Putting your eggs in ice water after they've boiled helps with the peeling

Yeah, the ice water trick works incredibly well. We're doing duck this year instead of turkey. And I'm currently watching the Lions get their butts kicked in the first quarter by Green Bay. I might need to start drinking now.

I worked 6am till closing at my morning job and then went over to have dinner with my mom and her boss. Originally we were going to go to a restaurant. Ironically my eldest niece went to the same restaurant with her mom and her mom's boyfriend that my mom was going take us to before deciding to make dinner at home. I brought over a couple of Edward's pies but I ended up taking one of them home with a plate of leftovers that I made into an open-face sandwich the following night.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!

Normally I'm with extended family in the tri-state area for Thanksgiving, but this year was quite different. My sister recently moved to Virginia, so myself, my mother, and my partner went down to visit her for a few days and then we went down to North Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with her husband's family. It was quite a lot of travel, but it was nice to see some of VA and NC, as it was my first time in both states.

We had a traditional Thanksgiving meal on Thursday and then a big Italian meal on Friday, as her husband's side of the family love traditional Italian cooking. It was a great time, but overall I'm feeling exhausted today from all the socializing and travel back to NY.

Not sure I can make that trip for Christmas! Lol.

Just our little nuclear family at home this year with a spatchcocked chicken instead of a turkey and a smaller selection of traditional sides. Kid had a full week off from school so he got a little cabin fever.
