I'm not. From the first Sonic Adventure, I saw the potential for 3D Sonic to become better than 2D Sonic, if Sega would have just put the time and care into doing it. I'd actually prefer to see something even more 3D than Sonic Colors appears to be, closer to Sonic Adventure 1, if they would bother to get it right this time.Jrecee wrote:Is anyone else feeling that the world is upside down and backwards when a 3D sonic game released at the same time looks like it turned out better than the return to 2D goodness that everyone was asking for?

So I finally downloaded it.
I'm no Sonic-ologist (and I'm definitely not going page through page for 18 pages) but I honestly am not sure what people are complaining about. This game is a LOT of fun so far.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I beat this game this morning and I loved it. I think most people complained because they changed the physics a bit, which honestly doesn't take that much time to get used to.Flake wrote:So I finally downloaded it.

I enjoyed the game as well, but the controls aren't nearly as polished nor are the physics.Flake wrote:So I finally downloaded it.

I agree. My only real problem with the game was that it cost $15. The price wasn't bad compared to the Genesis cart games, but when you compare it to the other downloadable games and their cost (via the Wii in my case) the price is expensive.

Downloaded it today
Don't like what I've played so far. Bad level design, weird controls and the first special stage I played for the chaos crystal was awful

I played it a bit at my mate's and I didn't really enjoy it that much. I don't think it's terrible, but it's certainly not great in my opinion. I agree with Gamerforlife in that the level design is quite bad and the controls getting some used to. Very disappointing for a game that's supposed to be a true sequel we've all been waiting for.
That said, it's probably a bit weird, but I'm enjoying Sonic Colours a LOT more. Now this game is a lot of fun to play. Not perfect either, but the best Sonic game since the Adventure titles for sure.

What's really surprising is how CHEAP the level design is. Enemies appearing out of nowhere after you quickly zip through some speedy part of the level and BAM, there goes all your rings. You basically need memorization to avoid these hits as you only get a split second to dodge
The special stages are confusing. How are you suppossed to open those barriers with the numbers on them? They just seem to randonly open
Why does the gameplay feel like a step back from Sonic 3 and Knuckles? The over-reliance on the homing attack is annoying. I was okay with this in the Sonic Adventure games but it just feels weird in a 2D Sonic. You don't NEED that in 2D. In 3D it made attacking your enemies easier, but in 2D it just feels weird
Someone should be crucified for this game.

The barriers are opened by collecting rings.
The number shown is how many more you need before it opens up, and it counts down for each ring you collect.

Thanks, would have been nice if the game had made that clear in some wayCFFJR wrote:^

I'm pushing my way through to see if this gets better, but right now if feels soulless, corporate and manufactured. This isn't Sonic. I don't know what it is. It's actually MORE derivative than Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. It's just a retread of levels from old Sonic games, but with worse gameplay and graphics(Sonic looks awful)
