Random Thoughts Thread
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Serious threads that have caused people to consider quitting or caused them to quit have happened several times in the last few months, from all over the spectrum of folks who visit. It happens.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I see both sides. I mean, it is a forum and in the end if it is better for someone to walk away than to be pissed off or in a bad state then why not? On the other hand, I do hope that these people realize they will be missed. Even though for the most part it is just an internet community, we talk about a lot of deeper issues here, which can be both a blessing and a curse. I feel closer to people on this forum than other forums I have been on, but I also get mad sometimes, mainly because I've come to let the people matter to me in some way.Ack wrote:Serious threads that have caused people to consider quitting or caused them to quit have happened several times in the last few months, from all over the spectrum of folks who visit. "Internet Buddies" as Dave said. So, yeah it is some dude or lady on the internet, but it's a bit more than that too. At least for me.

I don't close the doors in my house so my cats spy on me all the time. Granted, I live alone, so there's no reason to close the doors. My one cat perches on the corner of the tub and tries to get me to move my hand close to lick the water off when I shower, and when I'm pooping she likes to curl up between my legs on top of my pants. She's a goof.BogusMeatFactory wrote:Hahahaha, oh yeah! My cat makes sure he is in the bathroom with me. If I close the door, get ready to see his paw dart out under the door and try and pull it open.CFFJR wrote:I do miss the crew who have been absent.
Not so random thought: I sometimes feel awkward or guilty bringing up a new subject in a thread that's recently had a bit of serious discussion, and end up not posting at all.
Random thought for levity: The cats don't seem to realize that I do not need assistance to pee.
They sometimes try very hard to follow me in to the bathroom, and are waiting by the door on the way out.

I have always wondered what your cats did while you were pooping.MrPopo wrote:I don't close the doors in my house so my cats spy on me all the time. This sums up my thoughts quite nicely.jp1 wrote:I see both sides. I mean, it is a forum and in the end if it is better for someone to walk away than to be pissed off or in a bad state then why not? Though I must say, of all the forums I've joined/lurked, Racketboy is by far the most civil and respectful I have come across. I enjoy both the diversity of people and the diversity of topics, gaming and otherwise. And while there are moments where things might get out of hand, I feel those moments are few and far between, especially when compared to other similar forums.
That's why I think it probably hurts a bit more here when somebody says something hurtful here, whether it was intentional or not. To many, Racketboy feels like a safer place, a nicer place. Trolls are usually easy to spot and ignore (unless Dsh starts feeling frisky), so when a regular says something that cuts a little too close to home or against someone's strongly held personal beliefs, it can hurt deeper than it should. And as Bogus pointed out, if you're already highly defensive about certain topics, than you're more likely to take what someone says as a personal attack, whether they meant it to be one or not. Tone is something that is often hard to convey in printed form. Just ask anyone here who's ever tried to be sarcastic and gotten yelled at because they didn't use the blue text, ye scalawag.
But of course people are going to have bad days and be a$$holes and others are going to get their feelings hurt. Tis life, and such things are inevitable. When such moments transpire you just have to step back and take a breather. Maybe reevaluate what was said when tensions aren't running too high. 99% of the time no insults were intended. For the most part we're a thoughtful and caring bunch, who just enjoy sharing our thoughts and interests with others in a non-combative environment
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I know that's always been the #1 question on my mind when it comes to MrPopo. I can rest easy tonight knowing that question has finally been answered.jp1 wrote:I have always wondered what your cats did while you were pooping.MrPopo wrote:I don't close the doors in my house so my cats spy on me all the time. That's why I'm here; to make sure you know every intimate detail of my life.

Well, that one is an image I might never forget. It gives your avatar a whole new meaning too. Man, cats are crazy. My dog has never had any interest in my bathroom habits. She does like to watch my wife shower though. I'm not sure if I should be happy for the privacy I get or insulted.MrPopo wrote:That's why I'm here; to make sure you know every intimate detail of my life.
