Can you clue in the rest of us? I just boguht this game for Together Retro and was planning on playing it on my Retron5.
After the 2.2 firmware update Sonic 3 was crashing back to the menu at certain parts. I installed the beta patch and just ran through the vanilla game quickly on my Super Sonic save and had no troubles.
Anybody have a repro copy of Earthbound or Earthbound Zero for NES that they've tried in their Retron? I'm in the market for one (preferably one with the original NES Earthbound ROM as opposed to Earthbound Zero) and want to make sure it will work.
Yes, I know the difference between Earthbound and Earthbound Zero is literally the word "zero" on the title screen, but I'm a purist and want the exact version that Nintendo had prepped for release in the states, unaltered in any way if possible
Yeah, you'll pay as much or more for a repro when you can patch the real deal now with the Retron 5 instead. I recently replaced my Front Mission: Gun Hazard repro thanks to this.
I guess I could patch the famicom cart. Somehow I felt differently about this one given it was supposed to have an American release and was fully localized by Nintendo. Somehow it felt more natural to have an American cart repro, almost to stick it to nintendo for never actually releasing it or something. I dunno. Mixed feelings.
It's more natural to have a reproduction some guy put together in his basement than the authentic original released by Nintendo? I still don't understand the repro love I guess.
