ugh I'm your age and I don't hear Miley or Iggy as awful. Heck, The Flaming Lips are much older than both of us and they got Miley to perform on 2 tracks on their new album and she kills it.

I've decided it's finally time, and have started marathonning One Piece from the very beginning. Right now I'm up to right before they get Chopper.

I so want Earl to be an animated series.

Neither do I. Actually, they're both current pioneers of pop music.

"Current pioneers".

Just wrapped up Parks and Rec.

I usually hate sitcoms. I grew up watching a million reruns of sitcoms in my childhood:
Cosby Show, Perfect Strangers, Golden Girls, Who's the Boss, Alf, Punky Brewster, Charles in Charge, Night Court, Step by Step, Different World, Saved by the Bell, Home Improvement, Seinfeld, Full House, Fresh Prince, Family Matters, Murphy Brown, Martin, Coach, Wings, Sabrina, Living Single, Frasier, Just Shoot Me, Third Rock, et cetera.
These were all fun shows in my childhood, but now I can barely stand to watch any of them. After seeing so many episodes of so many sitcoms, I grew to hate the formula. Somehow Parks and Rec is different. This show bucks the many conventions of standard three-camera sitcoms. Parks and Rec is shot in mockumentary style a la "This is Spinal Tap" or "Best in Show."

The first season started out a little rough. By halfway through the second season, I was in love with the show and the characters. Chriss Pratt and Aubrey Plaza's romance seems realistic because it is based on the interactions of two characters who seem so natural and fill their roles perfectly. Rashida Jones's serial monogamy epitomizes modern dating life. Amy Poehler is perfectly cast as the high-strung, overachieving, career woman in local government. Nick Offerman plays her mentor / nemesis Ron Swanson--the perfect pastiche of libertarians. Every one of these characters is flawed but lovable. The interactions between these characters and their evolving relationships--romantic or otherwise is what kept me watching three of four episodes per night on Netflix. There's also a huge cast of recurring characters that drop in two or three times per season. This lends a real feeling of place to the fictional town of Pawnee Indiana.

I hear there's another half season in the works, but the series feels finished to me. Season six saw the departure of two long-time cast members and wrapped up with a farewell concert. We are now past the requisite hundred episodes necessary for syndication. I'd be happy if the producers left things alone here rather than shoehorning in an extra thirteen episodes. I've loved the series, but it feels done. Let's not overcook it.

I've not watched the South Park ep, but if they're commenting on their public personas as "awful" I'm pretty much with them. If you're talking about their music I like a lot of it.

We can't find anything deep or dramatic we like right now. Might try that Agents of Shield show, but right now we are watching Hotel Impossible...and really enjoying it.

Agents of Shield is very "popcorn fun" and is just fun to watch. I'm about 3/4 of the way through Season 1.

You've just hit the point where it really picks up steam. It's clear that Disney was really behind the show, as the pacing of the first season is done under the assumption that there would be a second season.
