It seems to me that bland, generic stuff that came out after grunge: Nickelback (possibly excepting their first album/single), Chevelle, Puddle of Mudd, Staind, Shinedown. Or search Google for "bands like Shindown" and you get Seeter, Trapt, Theory of a Deadman, Finger Eleven.

Terrible music. I had no idea it had a name until Bone mentioned it.
This. Technically it's "post-grunge" or some shit.

My brother has one of those "reverse ringtones" - I don't know what the technical name is - so when you call him you hear a song on the line instead of just rings. He used to alternate between various buttrock tunes but people complained. My mother told him: "no more buttrock on the phone, please." So now he alternates between Phil Collins and Kansas. I approve.

Hate the word "imperfections" when it is applied to people's physical status. Being an asshole is an imperfection. A beauty mark is a highlight.

And where have all the highlight magazines gone? My doctor's office only had Glamor and Us. I don't care about tyga nor what some baby wore to a gym.
Wut. Since when are hairstylists qualified to remove moles and the like?

Waiting room magazines are the worst. My doctor's office has nothing but Prevention. I once had my car worked on at Sears and they had nothing but car magazines. Lovely.

You've done something wrong with your life when your mom has to tell you "no more buttrock".

I was wondering why it was a little more peaceful...kinda strange it's not the same without those two popping up every once in awhile...

Dave and Hobie are being distracted by real life. AppleQ seems to have left after a thread that happened in Games as Culture that royally pissed her off. She made a "fuck this I'm out" post and hasn't posted since.

I saw that, but it didn't really seem that serious. To be fair I didn't read the whole thread. I've pissed her off before and she still hung around.

I know Dave has some shit, well I have a vague idea, but I didn't realize he would be away so much.

Hobie seems so chill all the time, I hope his "IRL" stuff isn't too shitty.

A lot of regulars just seem to be posting with much less frequency, or not at all. I guess I've been guilty of the same over the years.

Well, the summer is usually a little slower anyway. People actually do that "going outside" thing I've heard so much about. I think they're crazy...

Blasphemy. This thing you call outside. I have a newborn AND the Summer Games Challenge. The sun can suck it.

So in 2001 I joined Makeoutclub, which was an early social networking site for people into hardcore punk, emo, indie rock, and the like. I'll admit it - I was on there to meet some ladies. I was able to score one "date" IRL, which ended disastrously.

I miraculously managed to get a serious girlfriend (now wife) in 2002 and thus my time with Makeoutclub came to end. For some reason I was thinking about all of this today and for kicks decided to see if my old profile, untouched for 13 years, was still online.

It is.

I couldn't remember my username, but since my email hasn't changed since '01 I was able to retrieve details via the Forgot Your Password link.

Behold, my profile picture...
Image
Yup, me in a suit. Gotta love those old grainy webcams. I distinctly recall that photo being much larger back in the day, but somewhere along the way it became a thumbnail I guess. Why a suit? I have no idea. And nice camera angle there, Dave. Can't even even tell that I used to have some glorious hair once upon a time.

We're just getting started. My profile...
Word. I'm Dave. I like running, going to shows, dancing, emo, screamo, grindcore, hardcore, punk, indie, and lots of other stuff.

That's all.
"That's all." Indeed it was.

Oh, and my username: xheartsxdividex - named after a song (what else?) by the seminal New Jersey screamo band You and I. With the obligatory straight edge x's of course.

My profile links to my Livejournal account, which is now sadly inactive. I am proud to announce that I do still continue to use AIM: hit up xdavexcorex any time.

The details of my profile are all screwed up. My birthday is listed as January 1, 1988 and the site also claims I was "active" in 2014. Both of these are false.

Anyhow, this was an amusing trip down memory lane. For me at least. Think I'll listen to some of my old records now.
