PS1 and Gamecube stuff sells like gangbusters on Amazon.superyoda41 wrote:Hey, the joys of technology.
I mean it's awesome that we can pull the phone out of the pocket and find out if some obscure game is worth a buy. There are a ton of games and it is impossible to know if we are always getting a good deal.
I guess the difference is in the last year there has been an influx of people like my friend (sarcasm) from the earlier post. He isn't the only one.
Basically, what they do is get whatever basket of games are going out and just go one by one through them. If it is a disc game they typically have that scanner thing attached to the phone. It just seems so mindless. It also had the effect of driving up prices on the items because the people at the store started noticing a gravitation towards certain items.
It is the only way you can explain a price raise in all things Nintendo, up to the N64, but the PS1/Sega/Gamecube stuff staying flat.
If someone has a business and they are acquiring games to sell, then I welcome the competition to track stuff down. It actually makes it more fun. But when someone just camps out and spends thirty minutes checking each title, it kind of just makes it all less fun.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
I got a bunch of awesome free gaming and computer stuff from a guy on CL last year.
But I had the jump through hoops first to assure him I was not a reseller. He hated that shit.
A couple of weeks after I got the stuff he sent me an email asking for proof that I still had all of it.
Guy was awesome.

I think I payed about 60 for the game itself, so congrats on the sweet find man. Such a great game.superyoda41 wrote:I'm not sure what I'm doing with most of it, but getting Demons Crest alone made it worth it.

There is no shame in that!beatnix wrote:...and sadly, I sometimes have to double check if I actually have a game in my collections.

Gamecube stuff sells well. The good stuff also gets snapped up quick. I think the prices have stayed flat at this particular store because only a select group of titles get picked up fast. The rest sit for weeks. So, you can walk in an find four copies of SpongeBob. The hardware also sits for extended periods of time even priced as low as $6.90 for a complete console. So, I think they basically figured it isn't that desirable.aaron wrote:PS1 and Gamecube stuff sells like gangbusters on Amazon.superyoda41 wrote:Hey, the joys of technology.

That is probably relatively accurate. I mean, there are a select group of Gamecube titles that are in high demand, but there is a lot of kiddie stuff or cross-platform stuff too.
Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
it's weird, it seems like all the cross-platform stuff sells better on GCN. i don't get that. maybe because the system is so cheap now it's seeing an increased adoption rate amongst families with young kids?superyoda41 wrote:Gamecube stuff sells well. maybe cuz of the install-base of backwards compatible Wii's?aaron wrote: it's weird, it seems like all the cross-platform stuff sells better on GCN. i don't get that. maybe because the system is so cheap now it's seeing an increased adoption rate amongst families with young kids?
Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
that too. the GC software was also produced in smaller quantities, usually. so that might drive the price up a bit.noiseredux wrote:maybe cuz of the install-base of backwards compatible Wii's?aaron wrote: it's weird, it seems like all the cross-platform stuff sells better on GCN. i don't get that. maybe because the system is so cheap now it's seeing an increased adoption rate amongst families with young kids?

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Couldn't they have reduced cost and sold more if they had just used regular discs instead of the custom one? The GC would have sold a lot better if they'd done that.aaron wrote:that too. the GC software was also produced in smaller quantities, usually. so that might drive the price up a bit.noiseredux wrote:maybe cuz of the install-base of backwards compatible Wii's?aaron wrote: it's weird, it seems like all the cross-platform stuff sells better on GCN. i don't get that. maybe because the system is so cheap now it's seeing an increased adoption rate amongst families with young kids?

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
The discs were intentionally small to reduce load times, I actually prefer cross plat games on the cube because of the quick load times. Too bad not alot of rpgs on the system, could of been a huge boon.
