With how cool and different their games tend to be (from Act Raiser to RoboTrek), I just wish more Enix-published games came out here in the West :(
Oh, Quintet just did...

ActRaiser, ActRaiser 2, Robotrek, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, that kind of thing.

Your statement I imagine stands pretty firm even if you're not so certain.
I actually like the "sketchy" ones. I've made it a goal to play through all of the SNES RPGs released in the US. I started with many of the big name JRPGs but have now worked my way through most of those and am getting into stuff that some folks would consider bottom of the barrel. You know what? I'm still finding stuff to enjoy, and I'm about halfway through overall. Unfortunately I'm starting to run out of JRPGs, so that means I'll need to spend more time focusing on my WRPGs soon...

$150 seems a little high though, unless the price has jumped a lot since I last looked a few months ago. About £70 or so seemed to be the going rate (at least cart only) when I looked - roughly $110 or so.
I don't read moon language, so yeah, it would be on my Retron 5. As for the price, that's just what's on eBay right now, but there aren't many listings. I don't have the money to buy it now anyway, so I haven't looked at import shops online - just eyeballing current listings.

Kind of got me curious what you've played, will play, and if this is just US releases we're talking or patched to english games too. I've slimmed down my set of games quite a lot as my mood has soured, but I've kept the higher tier RPG and ActionRPG stuff though more or less (though I do need to get Illusion of Gaia again sometime.) As it stands now from memory I've got from third parties Soul Blazer, Secret of Mana, FF2, FF2, FFMQ, Super Mario RPG, Ogre Battle...I think that's it. ...and then there's Earthbound from Nintendo. I know some would probably toss Zelda on there too I suppose.

I didn't keep Arcana but it was decent, never touched Brainlord, Legend I didn't get into, Drakkhen I didn't like nor the sequel. Those D&D type overhead/tactal RPG games I dislike so those I never had. I had Breath of Fire but not the sequel, the first one bored me so badly both on SNES and GBA I just didn't bother. I may yet get BOF2 on GBA as I'd have a better chance of playing/finishing it on there. I'll admit I've had both Lufia but only played a distance into the first, sold the 2nd and I feel bad about it, never playing it. My kid came around that time and never could get time enough on the TV to do it so after sitting for 2 years I sold it.

Well, currently I'm playing Lufia & The Fortress of Doom. I'm only going for US releases, though I have played a bunch of imports(Live A Live, Final Fantasy V, Magic Knights Rayearth, Bahamut Lagoon, just to name a few). This is where I currently stand:

Beaten RPGs(using US names)
7th Saga
Arcana
Brain Lord
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire 2
Chrono Trigger
Drakkhen
Earthbound
Final Fantasy 2
Final Fantasy 3
Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest
Illusion of Gaia
Lagoon
Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinestrals
Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
Robotrek
Secret of Evermore
Secret of Mana
Secret of the Stars
Shadowrun
Super Mario RPG
The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang
Ys III: Wanderers from Ys
Left to Beat
Brandish
Dragon View
Dungeon Master
Eye of the Beholder
Inindo
Lord of the Rings, Vol. 1
Lufia & The Fortress of Doom
Might and Magic III
Obitus
Paladin's Quest
Soul Blazer
Super Ninja Boy
Ultima VI
Ultima VII
Ultima: Runes of Virtue II
Wizardry V
I own a bunch of the ones I've yet to beat, namely Brandish, Eye of the Beholder, Inindo, Lufia, Obitus, Super Ninja Boy, Ultima: Runes of Virtue II, and Wizardry V, so I have plenty more to play while tracking down others.

There are also a bunch of pseudo-RPGs or RPG-esque games that I'm not including in the list, like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I've beaten a fair chunk of the "pseudos" but am interested in trying the others.

As an addendum, I suppose I should say that this isn't odd behavior for me. I've nearly done the same thing with NTSC-U SNES fighting games.

Beaten Fighters
Art of Fighting
Ballz 3D
Battle Blaze
Brutal: Paws of Fury
ClayFighter
ClayFighter: Tournament Edition
ClayFighter 2: Judgement Clay
Doomsday Warrior
Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls
Fatal Fury: King of Fighters
Fatal Fury 2
Fatal Fury Special
Fighter's History
Justice League Task Force
Killer Instinct
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Fighting Edition
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat 2
Pit-Fighter
Power Instinct
Power Moves
Primal Rage
Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle
Street Combat
Rise of the Robots
Samurai Shodown
Shaq Fu
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
Tuff E Nuff
Ultraman: Towards the Future
WeaponLord
World Heroes
World Heroes 2
Left to Beat
DRAGON: The Bruce Lee Story
King of the Monsters
King of the Monsters 2
Mortal Kombat 3
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
So yeah...five to go on fighters, and I'm hoping to knock one of those out this summer. I've nearly wiped out one of the major genres. For laughs I might later go and beat all of the educational games or wipe out the one lone pinball game for the NTSC-U SNES I have yet to beat.

I am trying to acquire and play all the RPGs released in the US on the SNES, as well as the "essential" Super Fami JRPGs.

The latter is subjective of course, but you know what I mean. Games like Bahamut Lagoon, Final Fantasy V, Front Mission, and so on.

I am fortunate enough to now own most of the "heavy hitter" (in term of price) US-released games. Time to pick up the scraps with Uncharted Waters, Dragon View, etc...

Ultimate Fighter is actually a beat 'em up that offers a 2 player versus fight mode, similar to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.

Plus I've beaten Ultimate Fighter.

I'm curious what the overall consensus would be for essential English-patched JRPGs. I know Bahamut Lagoon is popular but there's a LOT of other games I'd put ahead of it. Live-a-Live has to be up there. Seiken Densetsu 3 and Rudra no Hihou as well
