The Toxic covers are cool. Totally have that classic "thrash" vibe without feeling derivative or anything.

How does one of the greatest metal albums ever crafted, get so screwed up?
Dave re-recorded a lot of the vocals too and he sounds terrible. I mean he's not exactly a great singer to begin with, but yeesh, those new takes are bad.
Apparently the most recent vinyl reissue actually has the original tracks, not the goofed up remixed and remastered ones.
We need more straight up re-releases and none of this remastering crap.
Though nothing is worse than full-on rerecordings.
I bought Dimmu Borgir's "Stormblåst MMV" a few years ago thinking it was just a reissue of Stormblåst (which is tough to find in the wild). Nope. It's the entire album rerecorded 10 years after the original. And, as expected, it sounds like ass.

IIRC Dimmu's whole deal was that Cacophanous Records won't let them reissue the original.
They're a terrible label. Nothing they released is in print anymore, they won't pay any royalties to the bands, and they refuse to negotiate rights for reissues. It's why like half of Sigh's discography is so hard to find.

2) Really? Moreso than Overkill, Anthrax, or Nuclear Assault?
yeah, mainly because of the vocal style. i love overkill and NA, never been an anthrax fan. but the soaring falsetto style vocals in thrash always do something for me. overkill has this to some degree but bobby's voice is a little more gruff. i dunno.
I can see that, but the gruffness of Overkill always reminded me of AC/DC, so I always had a strange appreciation for it. Anthrax...well, I'm kinda surprised.

i just could never, ever get into anthrax. too much mid-tempo stuff for me. maybe i'm just not listening to the right albums, i don't know. it just feels like they are always going at like 60% and the riffs aren't enough to make up for it.
