I do get some of the nostalgia from the Star Wars trailer. I do expect the new film to be more entertaining and less frustrating than the prequels, but I don't feel like I have had enough expectations set. A trailer is, in some ways, like a promise. I'm having trouble trying to figure out what commitment Star Wars is trying to make just yet.
I'm with you on that. The entire premise has me a bit concerned. Was this ever addressed in the comics? It seems like pitting the Incredible Hulk against, well, almost anybody. Does Batman get a kryptonite cod piece or something?

Batman vs. Superman is definitely something that has been done before. It's essentially a brains vs. brawn fight; obviously Supes would demolish Batman in a stand up fight, so it's about how Batman is able to outsmart him.

So I've rewatched The World's End a few times now...well, mostly the second half of the movie where things really pick up. I find myself liking it more and more with each viewing. This one is definitely becoming a favorite.

Watched Kundo: Age of the Rampant today...and just stopped a little over an hour and a half into it. I was getting bored. The whole movie is cliches, tropes, black and white characters, and very low on action. There's just nothing special about it. It's a competent movie, but not much more. Maybe I'll get back to it at some point and see if it really picks up in the end, but right now I just don't care. It's not good when you are watching a movie and feel like you're wasting your precious free time.

Starting Man of Tai Chi right now, will post my thoughts later.

I'm honestly not sure what I think of the Bat vs Supes trailer. It honestly gave little idea beyond the fact that the film would seem somber... which is how DC movies have been going lately. I'm also wondering where they might go with certain elements, considering the "false god" comments and all, and how the comics haven't touched much on Superman's religion, at least lately. I'm just curious if they are going to play with that end of it at all, or just leave it out.

The Star Wars trailer I'm just kind of meh about. It looks good overall, but I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars, so I'm not too excited. But Harrison Ford and Chewie did bump up my excitement a little, along with the (supposed) restricted use of CGI.

This movie always makes me laugh. Crispin Glover is hilariously weird. I watched it again because I had just been to some of the locations in Utah where they filmed the movie. My cat can eat a whole watermelon. I am the king of the echo people.

Arguably, Frank Miller did it best. Still, I'm not usually happy with putting Batman as brains vs Superman's brawn. In the comics Supes is supposed to also be a brilliant scientist. Batman has more street smarts, and so often can get in a little surprise, but Superman is technically supposed to be brilliant enough to catch on in no time.

Then again, Supes does have green kryptonite...

Quick question. Crispin Glover, comedic genius or complete psychopath?

That is not a quick question.

True... but I am patient. I spent a long time going down the rabbit hole that is Crispin Glover. I came out more confused than ever, but it was definitely one hell of a ride.

So I watched Man of Tai Chi, this movie feels old. Old in the sense that it tells the kind of simplistic story you would expect from a martial arts movie from about two decades ago. There's actually some Karate Kid vibes to this film. There are so many familiar tropes and cliches here. The plot is pretty predictable for the most part, though the story does introduce 1 or 2 little surprises towards the end of the movie that pleasantly surprised me. There are a few likable characters and performances too, and the movie does explore some eastern themes and symbolism related to Tai Chi. Overall though, the story is one you've seen before and ultimately disappointing as a result.

Oh, and Reeves himself isn't particularly impressive onscreen. Now, the last movie I saw with him was John Wick, where he turned in a sterling performance. So maybe, his performance in this movie just seems bad when compared to that. I was surprised by how good he was in Wick (showing real emotion in one scene), but this movie is more of the wooden acting we normally would expect from him.

On the plus side, he shows a real knack for directing as far as using camera angles, creating some cool visual sequences and properly filming action. He's got some skills as a director no doubt...as least as far as the visual aspect of it goes.

The fight scenes are very good, though the obvious use of wires at times kind of annoyed me as I think this movie could have been better served sticking to realism, but it veers away from that at times. This isn't a Wuxia film, GTFO with that wire work.

Overall, I'd described this movie the way a friend did when I asked her about it a week ago. It's okay. I'd give it a 6. Not bad for a directorial debut, but not a must see movie. The main highlight here is the fights, though I could name some films with far better fight scenes than this one(Chocolate, The Raid 2, etc.).

Oh, and I was surprised to see a cameo from The Raid's Iko Uwai in this movie. Though seeing him sadly reminds you of that much better movie that he was in while you're watching this one.
