I am a happy person! I don't hate! I love! Why can't we all just get along? I don't care about being right or wrong, but that people stay civil and have fun!
Let's smile a bit more!
Also...let's make more haikus....they are fun!

Smile: My fiancee's birthday is today and I set her up nice with a super indulgent breakfast and a voucher for an hour and a half massage at a local spa.
Frown: Had my technical phone interview with a hosting company I'm applying with here in town. 90% of the interview went fine. I had all the security, networking technology, network design, and protocol questions down pat. OSI model was no problem. But I bombed the first two questions because I was too nervous to subnet. Totally blanked on it, and it's the easiest thing in the world. I apologized for my nerves and managed to get my shit together for the next two subnetting questions - so I know I showed I have that knowledge.
So I'm angry at myself because even though I answered all those questions right, I'm worried that all he'll have written down in his notes are that I was nervous and messed up the first two easy questions.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I pretty much live in Together Retro and Games Beaten threads right now. They're just about the only place where people aren't being dickheads.
Oh damn, I'm not in those threads, I'd best try to fit in.

I'd say that the latter half of the interview could have done a lot to alleviate his fears. I recently interviewed a guy at my work that seemed very nervous at the beginning of our interview, but loosened up as we went along. I remembered that he was nervous, but after I was confident in his skill, it wasn't a factor in my decision to hire. Good luck!Flake wrote:Smile: My fiancee's birthday is today and I set her up nice with a super indulgent breakfast and a voucher for an hour and a half massage at a local spa.

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Well you just set the bar pretty high for her Valentine's Day gift didn't you?Flake wrote:Smile: My fiancee's birthday is today and I set her up nice with a super indulgent breakfast and a voucher for an hour and a half massage at a local spa.
Smile: About to eat some homemade chili, outside, while it snows. My wife will join me for a it, but I'll probably spend at least half hour enjoying the beauty of it all.

Don't stress about it Flake. When I've interviewed I've lobbed softball questions early to specifically ease people in, and if they mess it up but get the rest of the (harder) stuff right then I tend to overlook the early miss.

I hope that's the case here. I missed simple things like calculating the number of possible IPs but I got the subsequent bits like creating subnets to satisfy a network requirement and explaining routing and switching technologies.MrPopo wrote:Don't stress about it Flake. I'll know in a day or two when I hear if I made it to the final interview round.

Smile: Got a $50 gift card for Wal-Mart from work. Decided to stop there and pick up a few things...
Ticked: Overheard a woman in a toy aisle loudly tell her child "I ain't buying you no more Legos! You put the darn toy together and the next day you take the darn thing apart! Not gonna buy you anymore Legos if you keep taking them apart!"
So sad.
