I'm looking forward to the new one.
Did you know they used actual human skeletons in the original? That's going the distance.
Makes me wonder if Indiana Jones and The Goonies also used actual skeletons.

Another thing I admired was the film's shifting view of the child. At the beginning, you view him from the mother's perspective...and he is horribly demanding and truly awful. As the film progresses, however, you begin to view him more objectively and, eventually, from his perspective. (The director deftly moves the camera closer to the floor during the second half of the film.) When viewed from this perspective, he is much, much more sympathetic (and you realize just how much his mother terrifies him).
Okay, after seeing some posts in this thread, Why Don't You Play in Hell seems kind of tame
But if you want a fun, weird movie that DOESN'T feel like hentei, it's pretty cool. It feels like the lovechild of Quentin Tarantino, Stephen Chow, and Suda 51
I give it a thumbs up:

So surprised to see all the love for this. I had a hard time finishing it. I wouldn't put it among the worst horror movies I've seen, by a long shot. Top ten, or even top fifty, I just can't see it. But, to each their own.
"Bada dook dook dook", ugh.

yeah I mean I thought it was great, and I'd recommend it all day. But I can come up with lots of other movies from the past decade that I'd rank above it too.
