Obviously I'm not a developer and know nothing about porting, but it seems like with the consoles having parity with x86 architecture it should be a lot easier to port things developed for one to the other. If it is easier, then it seems like money left on the table to not go multi-platform.
It's not just them both being x86; the components themselves are the closest any console generation has ever been. They both are using the same AMD CPU (slightly different clocks), and the same GPU architecture (with the PS4 essentially having 50% more GPU cores). And considering the types of games that NIS makes and NISA publishes, the port job should be extremely easy to pull off. It'll basically come down to the licensing costs of being an Xbox dev vs how many Xbox Ones sell in Japan. If they think they can make a few bucks over break even then we could see a lot of these niche games go dual platform.

It probably comes down to how similar the libraries are. If they're completely alien to one another, ports might not be that simple, even if the machines had identical hardware.

One is built around the DX API and the PS4 is mainly open gl. I say wait till e3 to judge which platform has the better the games. I can live with out NIS games not a big fan of jrpg more wrpg games fit my tastes. As for the whole PS4 is 40% to 50% more powerful than the xbone compared to what Graphic resolutions vs games j/k :p.
Most of the first gen xbox one and PS4 games are just gussied up ports of last gen games. It is best to wait for the games that take advantages of both systems capabilities before one judges graphical prowess. To the Xbox fans E3 will be pretty surprising and for the PS4 SDF fanboys well just wait for it oops my answered was delayed to another time

The hardware specs are well known, and since both machines are using nearly identical components it's actually pretty straightforward to say that the PS4 is the more powerful machine. But I will give you credit for using the word "gussied".

I always criticise others and think I can do a better job (Like everyone else I guess) but if I was Sony or Microsoft, this generation I am seriously not sure what can I do to make people buy my console.
I guess I will just have to do "the cool guys buy our console" kind of campaign, where my console would be featured in movies and with celebrities.
I think some one in Sega is finally thinking "Thank god we got out of that hardware market"

Well whatever they're doing is pretty much working. They've sold a crapton of the things already and it's only six months in.

I wonder what is Sony's marketing strategy. They have already surpassed the Wii U and will almost double the XboxOne. All this with the real good next-gen games are not out yet. Even I would say, there is more reason to get a Wii U than a PS4 at the current time .
maybe its the great entry price of $400

So, I have enough disposable cash right now to afford an Xbox One. However, currently there are only 3 games I'm interested in. Those being Dead Rising 3, Titan Fall, and Forza 5. However, two of those are available (or will be soon) on PC. I know that there will eventually be games that I want like the Master Chief Collection, Halo 5, I'm sure Gears will re-emerge at some point, Crackdown 3 will be awesome, and so on. Other than the Halo stuff, E3 didn't get me excited for the system any more than I already am. But that isn't really a lot. I just know that at some point there will be enough games that I will want one. So, my question is: would you all buy it now if you had the money, knowing that you won't really play it much for a while? Or would you wait until the games are there and possibly a price drop?
BTW, I'm thinking of getting the Kinect bundle with free Forza 5 and Titan Fall. Then I am can get Dead Rising 3 for $37, all on Walmart.com. Which after tax brings my total up to $560. I think this is a decent deal. I don't think I could buy the Kinect-less system and those games individually for that price.
What do you all think?
