So what have you guys been watching lately?

Any of you watch Grimm? Good/bad? I've never seen it, but I'm curious.
I watch Grimm. I really like it, it has kind of the campy feel of Buffy and Angel. The first season is very "monster of the week" with some hints to an overarching story, which finally starts getting fleshed out in season 2. I like all of the characters and the actors do a great job of bringing them to life.
Nice. Thanks Stark, glad to hear a good review. We'll definitely be checking it out soon.

South Park knocked it out of the park last night.

South Park does that from time to time. I feel like each season has two or three legitimately hilarious episodes and a whole bunch of terrible episodes.

Just finished watching COSMOS with Neil Degrasse Tyson. This show has really good production values. I watched the original COSMOS with Carl Sagan (in reruns) some years ago. I hate to admit it, but I think I like the new show better. I may have to re-watch the old show again to better compare the two.

Tyson is awesome.

I've never watched a terrible episode of South Park. I believe Matt and Trey have set the bar so high that we always expect brilliance. I mean, what they do what they do, in the amount they have is unprecedented. I also will say that I don't agree with "any pizza is good pizza" nor "any sex is good sex" but I would say that any episode of South Park is a good episode of South Park.

I would agree, especially with the more recent seasons. I feel like originally, they were just trying to be controversial for the sake of being controversial. Now, I feel like the sense of humor is just more silly and more natural. The satire involved is more playful instead of insulting and disgusting. I remember watching a commentary for some episodes, and they constantly stressed the same thing; that they enjoy making episodes where the kids are just having fun. Episodes like the anime-ninja-star-in-butters-eye episode is a great example of that.

You are right that I don't think that there are bad episodes of South Park, just not brilliant episodes. It is weird to say that I have been enjoying South Park now, much much more as an adult than I did when I was in middle school when it was a thing.

If you haven't watched the most recent episode, please do.

It ties Simpson's Tapped Out to Alcoholism, but it doesn't, but it does. So much of a "We aren't telling you anything, but we're trying to make you think". But at the same time they are telling you something, but they aren't.

It's so entertaining and clever, and draws in too many cliches to count.

And sure, they do phone it in sometimes as they have hours to pull an episode together, but they somehow find a way to make silly things relevant...and stupid. It's really like asking a stand up comedian to create an entirely new five minute set, in one minute, week after week.

Obviously the team put a little more thought into this episode (guessing, as who knows?) but there is a part where the "Addiction Devil" submissively asks Stan, "I need to grab some visual aids. Do you have time for that?" that made me weep with laughter. It's astounding how many world problems, from little to gigantic, they address in about twenty minutes. And as humor should be, that never claim to be right, nor wrong. They simply hit the nail as directly as possible and hopes it makes you think and laugh. Plus, they probably don't care if you think or laugh or not. These guys made Orgazmo, so anything is possible.

I've noticed this season has a lot more continuity than previous seasons. The ongoing Lorde thing, the fact the school still has the Cissies bathroom, the first three eps all building on each other.

I noticed that too. Like maybe events in previous episodes will FINALLY start having long-term effects, both negative and positive. I'm not counting the two-parter "200" and "201", which was filled to the brim with callbacks from previous episodes, including Mecha-Streisand(sic), albeit a vastly redesigned version that for some reason reminded me of something I'd see in a first-party Dreamcast game.

Been watching Agents of SHIELD and also watching the associated Phase 2 movies and it's been a fun experience. Almost to the point where I need to re-watch Captain America 2. Yeah, I think in two more eps. I thought it would be pretty lame without the main supers but it's just a fun supercop show set in the Marvel Universe and I like it. Looking forward to Agent Carter now too.
