What was the last movie you've seen?

Incidentally, I think one of the guys from Z Team Films(the guys behind Die Fighting) has actually worked with the director and main character from the Raid movies in Merantau.

EDIT: and a cool thing about Die Fighting, it pays homage to many martial arts tropes including:
Two friends fighting each other at the end to save a girl, Double Dragon style

I'd rank my top five as:

1. Dr. Strangelove
2. A Clockwork Orange
3. The Shining
4. 2001
5. Paths of Glory

None of his films are bad, however. I'd consider his entire oeuvre to arguably be the best of any 20th Century director with more than ten films to their name, second perhaps only to Hitchcock.

I don't know, I'm a big fan of Kurosawa personally. But all three of them are definitely top tier.

I thought Kubrick's best work were the Apollo moon landings.

Seriously though Dr. Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut are my favorites. I have seen nearly all his notable works, except Barry Lyndon, something I plan to alleviate soon.

Get on that man. I personally found that to either the second or third most brutal fight in the movie.

Seen? Never heard of until 2 mins ago...

I've been looking forward to watching The Hobbit Trilogy...but I went in trying to mute my expectations because i've seen so many folks say they were disappointed and that Peter Jackson "should have quit while he was ahead" comments, etc.
Dead wrong. These films are simply put - Excellent. Everything is spot on. The pace I thought was actually better than LotR. The second movie could have been longer imo. Maybe our attention spans have shrunk even more over the last 10 years, but for me, each of them was enjoyable start to finish - outstanding scenery, funny dialogue, brilliant costumes and stages. The fight scene in Desolation of Smaug where the dwarves escape the Woodland Elves kingdom - and they are jumping barrel to barrel, passing axes - yeah, a few bits were too CGI-ey, but it was so fast paced, it wasn't a bother and that scene to me, was some of the most fun watching i've had in ages. If you've been holding off on these because of bad reviews - ignore them. This is epic / fun film-making at its best. Another round of kudos to PJ.

PS - King Kong was awesome too.

I think the primary complaints are from folks who were impressed with his commitment to the source material in his adaptation of LOTR and bothered by his approach to the source material in his adaptation of The Hobbit, a trilogy with a lot more padding in it than the story has in Tolkien's short book. (I can probably read the book in less time than it takes to watch all the movies.)
