The clusterfuck that is Atlanta traffic may be screwed up again tomorrow as roads refreeze overnight. So I may end up taking a half day tomorrow. But I have work I would like to get done before the end of the month which can't easily be done remotely...

I'm struggling to understand how ~2 inches of snow can be SO crippling. Do you have no access to or way of trucking in salt and a few plows?

I'm outside fitting pipes unless it gets to -40F. At that point, PVC cement freezes instantly without gluing anything and my job becomes impossible. The only part of the job that bothers me is driving to a job site. Highways are fairly well maintained and I'm always cautious, but you're just going to slide when turning onto a country road.

The Georgia Department of Transportation didn't prepare ahead of time. Instead they declared that the storm would hit later in the day, so they would begin salting around noon. Apparently they completely forgot that everyone in Atlanta would kind of want to go home before this thing hit because we all know how much the driving conditions suck in this town(they suck normally, but you throw in snow and ice, and you've got a clusterfuck of epic proportions). So as a result, GDOT sat back and waited, and when their chosen time came to salt the roads, the roads were already packed and snow was already falling, and nothing could be done. Eventually a couple of cars crash and a lane must be closed, and that's it. Even the cops are openly complaining about this bullshit, and they basically gave up on getting traffic through, because even police cruisers and ambulances got boxed in and trapped.

Hell, they didn't even close the schools. I passed one getting home that day where a couple of mothers were checking their kids out early, and a guy was going around putting down salt on his own.

Actually I left work Tuesday around 12:45pm, and I was lucky. I saw the traffic on the interstate stop ahead of me and not start back up, so I pulled through a lane of traffic, took a much earlier exit, and made it home through back roads. It took me an hour to make what is normally a 15 minute trip in heavy traffic, but I made it.

That said, traffic in Atlanta is generally terrible. I've heard it compared to traffic in mid-90s Los Angeles...so imagine what would happen if a couple of inches of snow fell on 1995 LA rush hour traffic. That's what happened in Atlanta.

Yeah, but now change Chris Tucker to Tyler Perry and Jackie Chan to...Tyler Perry.

That would be far more accurate.

:D Yesterday was pretty warm, roughly in the 80s, and then...

 It dropped about 20-30 degrees and it was rainy almost all day.

 Lost my new name tag and now I gotta get a new one. And I'm almost certain I lost it the same way I lost the last one, which was by not taking it off my work shirt before putting it into the costume return chute. I'm still not entirely used to picking up a new costume every work day, in lieu of stocking up on costumes (here, "costumes" is a word we call our uniforms, and mine consists of a white work shirt, burgundy belt with gold buckle, matching hat and custodial hip bag, and either white shorts OR white long pants, and on colder days they have long-sleeve white undershirts and black pea-coats though the dark navy utilities jacket is acceptable if they don't have a pea-coat in your size), so I'm not used to having to take my name tag off my work shirt. I'm really just pissed since I just got my replacement about a week or two ago and they're $10 to replace (they take it out of my paycheck). Last time I thought they'd send it to the address on record but they actually sent it to the costuming building I ordered it from (which was at EPCOT), so until I get my new one everyone will see me as "Pat" from Orlando, FL and not "David" from Outer Banks, NC (my replacement actually left off the S in Outer Banks).

:D :D Get paid in about a half-hour AND I'm off tomorrow! I might just stay up all night and spend the day doing my running around, which includes grocery shopping (at Target and the Dollar Tree) and popping into the thrift store and trying to get some more pants (I think as a Disney Cast Member I get a discount there on Thursdays).

   We still don't know where we're gonna end up living after we leave here.

I don't even know where to begin this time. You seriously need a blog, heck, do it right on this site, just start a thread and updated daily. I want to know everything. Show us that dollar store receipt. Talk about the wear and tear on your shoes. Maybe you see a cute girl one day. It's all magic.

I've learned that between best and worst case scenarios, the latter is the more likely. That's how I've come to assume you are making fun of me, but I keep in mind you might be sincere.

On the chance that here the best case scenario is the more likely scenario, I've been thinking of blogging and/or vlogging for a while, but it, like all my concepts, never leave that stage.

Sometimes I get some shit done, like when I finally seized the desire to fix my ratty ravaged wallet with nothing more than some duct tape (I used some with the Ninja Turtles, though the Nickelodeon version, but I also have a generic yet neat-looking design) and now my change isn't sliding out of the whole in the change compartment AND it no longer looks as battered.

Still gonna try to buy a new one. And maybe an SD card for my camcorder.
