Not going to lie, I am genuinely excited for this new Mad Max Movie, especially now that the New Trailer came out.

It looks to be quite the fun flick. One of the comments on Polygon summed it up best:
A guy playing a guitar that shoots fire while riding on top of a tricked out off-road vehicle careening across a desert wasteland? I’ll be there in my sunday finest.

Exactly. I always found the Mad Max series to be pure, unadulterated Ozploitation and this seems to continue that trend. I think that we take films a bit too seriously some times. We see films and are quick to judge them against redeeming qualities. Instead, we should judge a film for what it sets out to do.

This seems to set out to be outlandish, entertaining and just fun action. Will it succeed, I don't know, but from the action seen, it doesn't look overwhelming like other action films and for that, I am thankful. Of course....we will see.

I'm cautiously optimistic on the new Mad Max. Besides being Ozploitation, its Carsploitation, my personal favorite -sploitation. I'm not sure how the CGI is going work. If it's mainly based on the weather, as from what I can see in the trailer, I don't think it will be a problem. And the cars have all looked amazing so far, so I doubt there will be any issues there. The rats in this are ridiculous.

I just saw a Q&A panel with Curtis Armstrong (aka Booger from Revenge of the Nerds, Charles de Mar from Better Off Dead, and Metatron from Supernatural), so it was time to rewatch some of his classic movies.

Revenge of the Nerds:
Wow. This movie is a lot more sexist, racist, and homophobic than I remembered. It's almost all stereotype humor. It still manages to retain that fun 80s campiness, and it is funny at points, but it felt a lot more awkward and uncomfortable this viewing. A fun bit of trivia that he explained in his panel talk was that in the scene where Booger wins the belching competition, the belch needed to be extended and tweeked in post-production. Though it is based on an actual human burp, the sound was also mixed in with the groan of a camel in the midst of orgasm. The scene was disgusting enough to begin with, but it was three times as gross knowing that fact.

Better Off Dead
I'm happy to say, this movie still rocks and was a joy to watch from start to finish, though the claymation hamburgers are a bit cheesy now (no pun intended). I love how the film throws realism out the window and instead makes everything more exaggerated and silly to better fit how the emotion feels, rather than the facts of what is actually happening. His mother's disgusting cooking has tentacles squirming out of the pot, his math class is full of ridiculously over-prepared students, and of course, the newspaper boy who wants his two dollars will hound him relentlessly to get them.

Nah, I have proof that God exists.

You may be on to something.

I watched it because my mother asked me to (despite some protests) and because I love my mom. Afterwards, I had to send her an email explaining why my colleagues and I are nothing like Kevin Sorbo.

Kevin Sorbo is cool. I loved the Hercules series, as cheesy as it was. Andromeda had potential, but man, that show fell apart fast. Loved the callback to Hercules in the first episode, though. ;)

Let's see, last movie I've seen... I think it was the remake of Robocop. It was merely a'ight.
