I just asked Erik Twice's opinion on a game.

if you are not salivating over the idea of setting up timetables it's not the game for you

I am now afraid to ask what this man does in his spare time.

You can always keep the boxes and just put DVDs on them. :D

There's a few home movie type VHS tapes that I really should back up before it's too late, now that I think of it.

Nice if you have the shelf space for it

I've wound up appreciating the slimline case type sets though. The older releases of stuff like Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Nadesico, and so on I have take up a lot of shelf space. Not to mention the stupid hexagonal .hack//SIGN box that fits basically nowhere

Lately I've been toying with the idea of changing my college major to English. I wonder, has anyone here graduated with a English degree, and how is the job market?

I still only need about 30 credits to graduate or so. So it wouldn't be hard at all to change my major.

I did.

There's a job market?

I don't really recommend it unless you plan on going on to teach or into journalism which also doesn't have great job opportunities or pay.

Yeah, I migrated most of my tapes to dvd years ago. I still have a few that have never been released on dvd, mostly made for TV movies, but other than that it is the two I mentioned (which I have on DVD as well). Push comes to shove, I would sell the anime tapes I have if someone really wanted them.

Yeah, the English degree basically puts you in the pool of "people who graduated college with a degree that's not relevant for whatever job they're applying for". Which is probably better off than just having a HS diploma, but still not very worthwhile.

What's your current major?

If you decide to go with an English degree, might I recommend picking out a grad school now?

I graduated with an Bachelor's in English(with a History minor, so doubly useless) in 2007...and with a Master's in Library and Information Studies in 2009, because there was no way I was going to be able to find work with just a BA in English. And the market for Library jobs was a bit better, but not by much. Most library jobs aren't worth the money it took to get that degree, there is a lot of competition for library jobs, few people outside the library world realize there even is a library degree, and depending on what you want you focus on, the education you receive isn't much beyond on the job training.

I got lucky and did the right thing with mine, which was to go totally nontraditional and work with media for an entertainment company. Special libraries is where it's at, and if you want to make any kind of money, it's where you have to be unless you run a university or a major city's library system. Still took me two years of unemployment to find my job, along with a lot of other baggage.
