Are you ready to play way too much Sexy Parodius this week?

Over on the GameEx forum we're doing one called Cyvern (Kaneko 1998). Graphically and difficulty wise, would definitely take on anything from Raizing and/or Cave at the time. It feels more like something Psikyo would have made if they didn't make Dragon Blaze. I wouldn't be surprised to see it played in a future SOTM calendar.

Yeah, Cyvern is pretty fun! Medalling is always nice, and blasting everything away with the massive hold shots each dragon has is excellent. Graphics on it are quite nice, but...
Dangun Feveron is of that era, and makes Cyvern look like a Compile game in comparison.
I think Kaneko did another shooter, Explosive Breaker or something like that? I remember them having more than one on that Kaneko Super System board, or whatever it was called.
This, however, I'm not so sure aboutExedExes wrote: difficulty wise, would definitely take on anything from Raizing and/or Cave at the time.

Sengeki Striker. Both Sengeki and Cyvern are excellent.

Once I get past that level 2 boss, then I'll eat my words. Speaking of bosses, certain conditions make them different colors, harder but worth more points by blowing off certain parts. Plus, a medaling system that is very easy to score on.dunpeal2064 wrote:Yeah, Cyvern is pretty fun! Even Kaneko made a cartridge-based motherboard system. It was the thing to do in the 90s no matter what the company, I suppose.

I just played a few rounds of Eschatos, and I have no idea what the hell is going on.
Has a very manic feel, though. I'm diggin' it so far.

I'm playing Gaiares (for SOTM) and Whip Rush (for entertainment!)
I also picked up a copy of R-Types Final today but will hold off on that until I'm exhausted myself with these two.

Got my TATE set up, been really getting in to Dimahoo since I figured out the whole magic and elemental thing. Also couldn't get Battle Bakraid to work on Shmupmame so have been playing Battle Garegga.
