Nope. Years ago when DVDs came out I kicked VHS to the curb. (I've since kicked DVDs to the curb in light of better technology as well.)
But then how do you play VCR gaming classics like Captain Power or Nightmare? Doesn't this make your Action Max unplayable?

is probably the post I've read the most times of any on this website. Mostly thanks to mjmr25's clickbait thread titles. :lol:

Only problem with the whole vhs thing is all those tapes take up a lot of space(especially the ones like the masterpiece collection disney put out came in...)takes up so much space that games could take up when you have more than 25(I lost count since there's a stack on one side of the room, 2 shelves filled, and a stack on top of the bookcase... o_O)...still a more satisfying sound though than sliding a disc in 8)

I'm glad I have a VCR and own a decent collection of weird VHS tapes but for me laserdisc is the best obsolete format. I own a bunch of anime that's never been released on DVD in the US; some of it hasn't even been released on DVD in Japan!

That's not the only problem. Another big problem is that every time you watch a VHS tape you degrade its integrity. Like a vinyl record the mere act of experiencing a VHS tape slowly destroys it. Optical and digital media on the other hand are not prone to this issue.

Also, VHS tapes are going to degrade whether you watch them or not.

That is true. But the degradation you're talking about there is caused by different factors than what I was talking about with the act of directly watching a VHS. In that regard, optical media also degrades whether you watch it or not, but at a pace that is acceptable in comparison to VHS. (Which was another reason I replaced my VHS tapes with DVDs years ago.)

VHS = degradation via viewing and via time
DVD = degradation via time

I backed my important ones up, but kept things like Robotech and Captain Tylor on VHS since they look great on the shelf. As for the entire first run of Red Dwarf, that needs to go.
