Another BookOff run, really nice prices for CIB pristine games!

Xbox Links 2004 -$1.00 BookOff
For a PC game traditionally played with a mouse, the Xbox controls work pretty well. Not big on sports games but it is Links which has a long gaming history and is exclusive to the Xbox console. Now where was that weird golf controller I bought a while back?

Xbox/Xbox 360 Sneak King - $5.00 BookOff
A mediocre Metal Gear inspired sneaking game. Creepy Burger King creeping up on people and presenting them with a hamburger based on the TV commercials. Bought just because its different and uniqueness of a combo Original Xbox and 360 game disc.

PS2 Conflict Zone - $5.00 BookOff
Real Time Strategy game that I have already played on the Dreamcast with the same analog stick so so controls. The game is good if it was not for the touchy analog pointer. I swear this style of game really needs a mouse, no problem here with a SmartJoy Frag PS/2 mouse adapter.

PS2 Ed Edd Eddy -$1.00 BookOff
Only bought this since it is only a buck. Each Ed has a different ability, same voices as in the cartoon.

PS2 NTSCJ Namco 50th Anniversary Nam Collection - $5.00 BookOff
Amazing, this uncommon import only cost five dollars! Not the Arcade compilation, ooh yeah, I have been wanting this set! Not only is it a nice collection of PS1 games but kind of proved a few features that was missed out on the PS2. Note that this game only runs in a PS2.

1. Namco neGcon works with Ridge Racer
2. PS1 Flight Stick works with Ace Combat 2
3. PS2 disc with PS1 games installs with HDAdvance

Image Image

All three of these features have only a couple of instances of working in a PS2. Of note PS1 games can never be installed in a PS2 hard drive.

THE GAMES
Ace Combat 2
Kloana
Mr Driller
Ridge Racer
Tekken

As in the Namco Arcade Collections, there is a History section which includes concept drawings and video clips of the games. Looks like installing PS1 games can be possible with a right boot program, in this case the Nam Collection loader. Perhaps a solution thru coding to install other PS1 games into the PS2 hard drive? :?

PS2 Thrillville Off Rails - $5.00 BookOff
Already own the first Thrillville, had to get the expanded version. Not only an amusement park sim, but a very nice compilation of mini games that have a great retro feel about them. Really, there are SHMUPS, Overhead Racers and Run n Guns Gauntlet games that have Robotron Twinstick control. This game is also available on the Wii, but get the PS2 version so the retro games can be played with a real Arcade Stick. :D

I was doing some house hunting in Albuquerque this week. The thrift stores there pretty much suck as far as video games are concerned. They do have a lot of dedicated retro game stores though so I would imagine there are significantly less donations and more sharks swarming the thrifts to bring goodies back to their stores to resell. I only hit once but I hit pretty big. The ONLY video games I found all week at any of the 10 or so thrifts I visited (aside from a $50 PS2 (console only) was a Sega Saturn w/memory cart and power cord (no AV or controllers) for $10 and a stack of 20 games for $3 each (one case had 2 games so really 21 games). Only 10 have manuals but they're all in really nice condition. I already had 2 Saturns but I didn't have the memory cart so the $10 was justified to me. Games are as follows:

Road Rash
PTO
Sim City 2000
Iron Storm
Andretti Racing
AMOK
Pandemonium!
Robo Pit
Darius Gaiden
Solar Eclipse
-Above all complete-
Mr Bones (also had Battle Sport disc)
Quarterback Attack
NFL Quarterback Club 97
Command & Conquer
Impact Racing
Theme Park
Bug Too!
Mech Warrior 2
Need for Speed Road & Track
Myst

I didn't have any of these games (only had 12 Saturn games) and I hesitated on the sports and racing crap games, especially since they didn't have manuals but it tough to come across Saturn games so I grabbed the whole stack like a bandit just as the employee was unloading it all from his cart and I dashed to the register. The cashier actually had the nerve to ask me where I found all of this stuff in an accusing tone and told me it should have been in their glass case, not on the sales floor- like I decided to help myself behind the counter while nobody was looking. Oh, I also got a Skyrim guide for $3 from the same store.

I also picked up a bunch of various games that I wanted but never came across cheap enough so I splurged and spent $1-10 on each (most in the $5-7 range), aside from the sports games. One store was selling all their crap sports games for $0.95 each (like ALL old common sports titles SHOULD be). I picked up a sealed SNES NFL Quarterback Club 97 (plastic has some tears) and Madden 94 & 95 complete. I figured $1 is pretty nice for any complete SNES game, even Madden. I also got a sealed Who Shot Johnny Rock for Sega CD for $5, an NES dog bone controller that doesn't seem like it's ever been used for $10, and a complete Final Fight One for GBA for $13. I already had 2 loose copies but wanted it complete so if anyone is looking for a loose copy let me know. Other than that, nothing too special here.

Today I picked another Genesis (console only) for $5, Lilo & Stitch for PS 1 for $0.99, and oddly I found a copy of Iron Soldier for the Jaguar for $4. It probably sucks but when do you ever find Jaguar games anywhere? In 10 years I've only gotten my hand on 5 before this so I thought that was pretty damn cool.

CRT, nice to see you finally came by a copy of Sneak King. No video game collection is complete without it...[cough].

^Finding a stack of Saturn games like that is something I dream about. Give Mr. Bones a try. It's supposed to be good!^

Neat, I didn't know Amok was on the Saturn. I only ever played it on the PC. It was a pretty cool game for its time.

I remember thinking, "Wow the graphics are so much better than MechWarrior 2!"

None of the stores have it here. It's like it went on sale with no Best Buys in the area carrying it or any online price matching stores with it.

I agree...I recently grabbed a copy of the game myself from a local pawn shop for the whopping sum of a quarter.

Also...incredible find, J_Wil! I would love to find a set like that again!
