What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Yeah, they utterly nailed it with this game. I really enjoyed how in the story bits your mission control would be trying to explain how to do something delicately, and you would just go "fuck it" and smash stuff.

Basically. I seriously can't find anything bad about this game. I'd have liked the ability to sprint, but I don't think that counts as a bad thing.noiseredux wrote:you know what I really enjoy about it? Everything. Seriously everything is good about this game.

But they did kind of bring back the ice skates. The movement speed is pretty damn fast and fluid hehe.
(note: I liked DNF, but this completely destroys it and what it tried to accomplish).
Agreed. Doom Guy is here to kill everything. This is everything Duke Nukem Forever could have been.MrPopo wrote:Yeah, they utterly nailed it with this game. I looooved Duke Nukem Forever, but I agree, this is what it should have been.Xeogred wrote:But they did kind of bring back the ice skates. The movement speed is pretty damn fast and fluid hehe.

Meanwhile, I'm playing Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for my first Summer Challenge game.

I also enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever, but they got a lot "wrong" with that game. The best way I can describe it is that both of these games would appeal to the 13 year old version of myself. But Doom 4 managed to accomplish that without being juvenile.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Exactly. Nothing about if feels forced or crosses the line, haha. I'm already planning on going back on finding everything (assuming your upgrades carry over in a campaign file, even if you replay levels? I hope), and I'm excited to try out the higher difficulties.
Snapmap seems cool. Multiplayer is kind of a bust, but I can't really complain. Definitely getting my moneys worth with the campaign.
Are you playing the remaster Ack? I want to check that out sometime. Loved the first two back in the day.

Yeah, I'm trying it out, and I'm loving it. You mentioned ice skates for Doom, well Turok has those too. You feel like you're flying half the time. I've spent way more time with Turok 2: Seeds of Evil(and the late-2000s dud Turok), but this is absolutely awesome.Xeogred wrote:Are you playing the remaster Ack? I want to check that out sometime. I'm glad to hear all the positive reactions to Doom here. They're still a little mixed other places but retro gamers are really the only people whose opinions on Doom I care about because it's Doom. I'll be picking it up when I can.
A lot of the complaints seem to come from the multiplayer half of the game which I had no interest in anyway and I'm sure patches and mods will change that in a few months regardless.
