Not all of them, but I suppose that's obvious.

My copy of Bit.Trip Complete was ordered in by the employee when I told him I wanted a sealed copy. Since it was the last one he did that for me. Awesome dude.

On the other hand, one tim an employee made fun of me for wanting a sealed Pokémon White after I asked for one.

Awwww. What kind of kitten?
A cute one?

My GF works on a farm part time, and this little dude was abandoned in a horse stall. We took him in to keep my other cat company.

The Ugly
@ skate - Some Gamestops in my area also have New games in GENERIC cases. I know you can trade them up at another store, but the wrong message is being sent to the store that does this. If it was a Nintendo game, the Club Points might be used. I pretty much pass on used games that are not CIB. A new game that is not sealed, let alone incomplete? NEVER!

The Ridiculous Good
Sometimes the opposite happens. I bought a used copy of new looking Kirby Epic Yarn with enclosed Club Points on the cheap from Gamestop. They had a stack of them in the drawer all being sold as used even though they all looked crisp new. The employee told me the game is only available as used, the new games were retagged to used. The site still shows new as an option, but the store only shows used. :?

The Bad
Once I bought a used game for $2.99. The employee asked in an awkward voice if I would want the disc warranty. Gave him a rolling eyes look and said no. He told me sorry but he was required to say that. Corporate should really give the employees more flexibility.

The Good
One of my recent Wii purchases had a small hole in the cover and case under the Gamestop sticker, maybe a promo copy or something since it went thru the game bar code. The employee let me swap the cover and case off the only copy from the shelf even though I forgot the sales receipt. I have done this a few other times such as matching PS2 Greatest Hits Red Label discs to a GH cover.

Re: the disc warranty, that's one thing a lot of their employees have bitched about recently. I was talking to a friend of a friend that manages a gamestop, and it pisses him off to no end that they have to go through all the power up rewards, warranties, pre-order etc. BS for every sale. Alas, that is corporate America. My older brother used to manage a gamestop some years back and it wasn't nearly that bad.

It's sweet that they let you trade cases and such for matching labels, I've done the same a few times myself. When they understand you're a "real" gamer/collector, sometimes they really will try to help you out. [Some] "good people, bad corporate" really sums up my opinion of the whole operation. Gamestop is a necessary evil IMO.

I've swapped out case inserts, and gotten free manuals, plenty of times. Skate is right, most GS employees really get a kick out of people like us. I'm sort of shocked by just how willing they are to help me out.

But NEW games in generic cases?!? That doesn't even begin to make sense to me. Luckily, I've never seen it personally.

This has endlessly pissed me off about gamestop selling so -called new games yet there open and gutted and sometimes the disc will even have fingerprints and or makrs and then used games are the same so how the hell is this new. I choose when im paying full price for a game on that rare occasion....Catherine, deathsmiles, silent hill downpour to go for walmart so its actually new although those few i named i needed to get at gamestop considering i got both the limited version boxed sets of those games

Ya it;s funny i do the same thing i swap out for better cases and make sure i get a book and they always tell me they get it but most people dont care if it has a case or not.

ditto I bought a used copy of forza and it had neither. I went back to the gamestop like 3 weeks later without a receipt or anything and asked for a swap and they did it. I was actually kind of surprised. I guess they do good things too.

Who is actually buying new games without cases or manuals? How are these new cases and manuals disappearing in the first place?
