Recently alienjesus beat and noted that the Japanese version of Dynamite Heddy is the one to play. And now we all know a lot of people favor Streets of Rage 3's Japanese release (Bare Knuckle) over the US one. Now that I'm on a roll with some retro stuff lately it makes me wonder which versions are the best ones or most fair to play.

I'll note that Castlevania 3 in Japan is more fair. Enemy damage is based on actual enemies and not what world you are in Also if you lose to any form of drac, it's back to the great stairs even with a game over. In North America a death will send you back halfway through the world and a game over is back to the beginning of the world.

That stairs respawn was absolutely brutal. I finally beat it using the one save state on the Wii U VC.

Oh I also forgot that drac's final attack has double the size in the nes version. And nintendo thought American gamers couldn't handle a tough game hah!

It was a platformer (I think) starring a little purple alien. And I'm pretty sure it was based on a cartoon.

I know I rented this once as a kid, but the memory was so vague. I should play it again and see if it's any good.

Yep, marurun got it right. I remember that from NP as well. Y'all have no idea how much I read those things... especially when all you've got is an NES, so you hang on the NES sections.
