Thoughts? Feelings? I am curious to see where this goes. I don't know if they are too old to do this, or if the idea has overstayed its welcome, but I loved the original. We will see, but my excitement isn't going through the roof.
I don't know whats the type of comedy Ben Stiller does, but I really hate it. I find him irritating more than funny.
It depends on the film for me. Zoolander was just ok, as was There's Something About Mary, and I really didn't like Meet the Parents, but I liked both Tropic Thunder and Tower Heist...though often for all for all of the supporting cast(you watch Tower Heist for Eddie Murphy).

ZOOLANDER was a million times better than it should have been. Or at least a thousand times better.

Sure, it's main accomplishment was to provide college dudes with ideas of Halloween costumes, but what majestically costumes they made. No male wardrobe is compete without a Mugato turtleneck sweater.

Stiller is the male Katherine Heigl. Everyone wants to work with them, but passionately hates them.

Use your imagination...

Steven Clith, as rumored, is way beyond shooting "BLERCKS III". Pooch to da Cootch.

...tons more to come. Dude is going dynamo and ready to give "the guys" a huge "fuck you, I still got it"...in a polite way of course.

Strap in. Laughs to come.

Oh really? Are we going back to NJ again?

Here's the way I see it: The first film was brilliant in terms of dialogue, pacing, and memorable characters. I can watch this one time and again. Me and my buddies often quote lines from this film to each other.

Thirty-seven!?

Every film that followed has been hit or miss to me. None of them were bad, but none could reach the true brilliance of his first film. I could elaborate what I mean, but I'd have to name specifics to do so.

In a row.

Let's all pretend this is nothing but rumor. Let's also pretend that a Mallrats sequel is in the works. And perhaps that Lee is actually filming skate boarding stuff 411 style for that sequel.

And if you are a fan of Lee but haven't watched his 411 clips, you're missing out on..I don't know to to put it... A tremendous amount of some of the most bodacious street skating by one of the most likeable guys on the planet. He's super lovable and talented to boot.

Sounds terrible, but I'm down for the title:

"RATZ"

My god, are there any malls left in this nation in which one could film a movie? The only true indoor mall near me is a depressing husk of what it once was. Maybe that's why they're dropping the word "mall" from the "ratz"

Are you sure you're not just BSing, Luke? I enjoy Mallrats for capturing a moment in time in the '90s, but I'm skeptical of a sequel. The critics panned it, and it was a box office bomb. Who's going to invest the money to make a sequel to that? Are you just pulling my leg?

Doesn't Kevin Smith have enough money at this point to just say "Fuck it, I want to make whatever the hell I want"?

I don't claim to be the foremost expert on the film-making process, but I'm thinking that few directors personally finance their own films. Movies are expensive undertakings. The producer must secure dollars from investors. Those investors, unsurprisingly, are less interested in the directors artistic integrity than they are in making a good r.o.i. when the box office receipts roll in.
