How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I believe yes on an NTSC-J Super Famicom. PAL though...that might be tricky.

You can use AV cables and controllers on an NTSC U or J. The tip for the power adapter is difference on an NTSC-U SNES though, so you wont be able to use it.strangenova wrote:Quick question. Can you use US av cables, ac adapters, and controllers on a super famicom?

100% agreed. Everything about that level is a horrible, horrible slog.Ack wrote:Clown Man is the worst. That level is the equivalent of Mega Man busting into a 6-year-old's room just to kick him in the nuts.
God, I hate Clown Man.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I was going to say I like Clown Man in Megaman & Bass, but was totally thinking of Astro Man.
That level rules in MM&B:

I just want to say that during my journey with the MMAC, I did NOT enjoy the final encounters on MM7 or 8. Yet, I beat them both with 1-2 energy left. I guess I really wanted to unlock that making of Megaman video
What are your takes on X-Kaliber 2097 (Sword Maniac in Japan)? Like Biometal, Activision decided to go with another 90s techno sound track by Psykosonik here. I think it's decent but the boss encounters can be long and drawn out.

The PAL system is called a SNES, not a Super Famicom.Ack wrote:I believe yes on an NTSC-J Super Famicom. PAL though...that might be tricky.

It's OK. The boss fights really do kill it for me. I recall some kind of scorpion bug thing that pissed me off when I had to fight it, while the rest of the bosses just devolved into grudge matches while I figured out the best tactics to abuse against them. Also, what a hatchet job to that story!ExedExes wrote: What are your takes on X-Kaliber 2097 (Sword Maniac in Japan)? Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Mega Man 7's final boss fight was specifically designed to be the hardest they ever did. They wanted to make it, "impossible" to beat without at least one E-Tank. It's a pretty impressive feat to manage it.ExedExes wrote:I just want to say that during my journey with the MMAC, I did NOT enjoy the final encounters on MM7 or 8. I agree with you and Ack on X-Kaliber. The boss fights kind of ruin it. It reminds me of Mazin Saga on the Genesis in that way.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I did a little bit more research on that, and yes you're right. The Japanese version's final boss was something straight out of Japanese mythlogy, and that was changed around as well as some of the character names. The back of the X-Kaliber box says that the story was done by "comic book writer Mark London Williams", and a quick check of his body of work doesn't come up with very much, but he's done writing work on other forms of media including some more games.Ack wrote:Also, what a hatchet job to that story!
I really wanted to like this game, but those boss fights....
