The Big Bang Theory

Never got the appeal. Never liked two and a half men, so maybe sitcoms just aren't my thing.

I think it simply has to do with the fact that both of those shows are terrible.

This ^ i've seen TBBT and honestly it felt corny especially when Sheldon came on. I gave it like four episodes to impress me and every time it was corny and really laid on the cheese(apparently they didn't take any tips from older sitcoms that were 10x better)....

Well either way it's a modern sitcom with no talent hacks who couldn't act or be funny to save their lives(and the writers apparently can do much better to help matters). Even the 90's/early 2000's sitcoms that constantly air on nick at nite are 100x better....

I understand the appeal of Twin Peaks during the early 90s, when tv was a wasteland for dramas, but I don't get the appeal now. I guess I'm just more into story than random weirdness, which Twin Peaks and American Horror Story have in common. Just a continual build of absurd situations that never really go anywhere.

I can also completely understand how some people don't enjoy shows like Twin Peaks and, after just now watching the first two episodes, American Horror Story . I guess I find that there are often clever scenes or dialogue that hit home with me. It's the weird quirky shit that i'm never expecting, that makes for an fresh, entertaining viewing experience. Though I didn't watch Twin Peaks when it originally aired, and watched it for the first time less than 3 years ago, so that enjoyment of offbeat quirkiness is still relevant to my media interests today.

It makes me often dread going over to their house to eat dinner because it's always conveniently on while we eat.

Still haven't seen it . First night a thunderstorm knocks out the channel and the night of the rerun a neighbor forgot her wifi password which her son needed to do some work. Ended up taking about an hour to get the password since she had a weird wifi router/modem combo which was not accessible through her computer. Literally had to call the cable company and wait 30 minutes before getting her wireless code from them . Definitely wasn't the 3-4 minute job I was expecting.

Wife and I blew through Orphan Black's first season and ended up buying the second. It's about a grifter who is at a train station and see someone who looks just like her kill themselves. She looks well off so she decides to take her identity and see what money she can make from it and it goes from there. Always on the edge of my seat and it has that "I'll just watch one more ep" at the end of every episode. First season is free for Prime!

Having seen very little of the show, I can't say definitively, but I reckon it's more on the writing/producing/directing side. I thought the one actor was great as David on Roseanne, and the lead (highest paid) actor has done other things and is definitely talented. It might be more a case of phoning it in.

apparently I'm in the vast majority, but I watch Big Bang Theory re-runs over and over. Whatevs. I find it quite funny. That and The Office are probably most of my TV watching these days.

Two And A Half Men is fucking terrible though. I haven't even forced myself to watch the Lindsay episode yet.

I just recently finished Peep Show on Netflix (which was amazing)
Now i'm going through The Office (which I embarrassingly never watched), which is also amazing
Do I even need to mention how excited I am for the return of Twin Peaks? Fffuuu

Twin Peaks 2016 is some of the best TV news I've heard in forever. I might have to get Showtime just to watch it - assuming that Hulu+ or something wouldn't' cover that?

You do have a valid point there. I, embarrassingly, had never seen the Office up until about 2 weeks ago when I absolutely crushed season 1 in the minimal amount of sittings. That show is incredible and i'm still working through it. It's just unfortunate that TBS has a few shows that plague it's name. Though, I don't even have cable television at my place so it's all a bit irrelevant to me.
