I was also very unimpressed with Limbo.

Anyways... I love quite a lot of the objectively speaking flawed, wacky survival horror games of the late 90s/early 2000s. One that always stood out to me was the late Kenji Eno's D2, which was definitely his 'piece de resistance' after trying so many weird ideas that never quite clicked with a lot of critics. I appreciate all his works, but D2 is my favourite.

I still find it odd that Nintendo opted to title this game as Super Mario World 2, as it’s obviously a spin off, rather that a sequel to the Super Mario series.

I stupidly went the other direction and tried to rationalize how they kinda sorta made it a sequel, when you're right, it clearly isn't.

One thing that always bugs me about Yoshi's Island is the "where the hell do I go?" element of it. It gets kind of old for me.

Personally I think it's steaming hot pile of echidna shit.. but I have very, very fond memories of it. I owned it back on that special day, 9/9/99 (also my birthday...)... bought it on Gamecube and then again on PSN. Clearly I'm a fool and a sucker. Nothing gives me nostalgia like the entire Sonic series, because so many entries are like little lampposts in the course of my life, and the nostalgia for one sort of builds on another.

But objectively, I think Sonic Adventure is garbage, and it gets worse with each playthrough. Its speed is impressive and that... is... it. But I still love it and I actually look forward to another playthrough when I eventually get to it for my blog.

I replayed Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 recently and I honestly think the Sonic stages (not the other garbage stages) hold up really well. The glitches and camera angles are no where near as bad as people make out (although it's worth pointing out that the DX version of the first game, originally on GameCube, seems to have more problems).

Also, whilst I appreciate that Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations are objectively superior games, I do really like that Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 have slower gameplay and are closer to the old school style and design. Also, some of the levels really do stand out, unlike Colors, which is fun, but I couldn't remember a single level from it if I tried.
