Anyone else having font issues after upgrading? (I upgraded from 7 to 10)
Steam and all system text (updates from other programs) have a skinny hard to read font.

Have you checked your resolution? Are your graphics drivers up to date?

Yes and yes.

Here is what it looks like:

I get this font when iTunes tried to update (fine print stuff), in MS's new browser and in Steam. Chrome is ok.

It's not a big deal but it is annoying.

Try that, when I first went from 7 to 8 I had a similar issue, that fixed it.

That worked.
Thanks!

*Edit: It worked for Steam, but now Chrome is that same thin font....

so I've had Win10 on my laptop long enough to say... I really love Win10. Feels like 7 but I'm more used to just typing apps/programs I want into Cortana like they wanted us to do with Win8. And I hate to say, but I like Cortana. I have the mic thing on my laptop and use the voice stuff more than I thought. I only use my gaming PC for gaming , but it's cool to just say "hey Cortana, open Netflix" or "hey Cortana, what's the weather gonna be tomorrow" while gaming and my laptop just responds. Digging it. Gonna probably take the plunge on my gaming PC soon-ish. Though I won't bother w/ any non-gaming stuff on there anyway.

Is cortana better with a non-attached to laptop mic? She seems pretty stupid off and on as that's what I'm using. One thing that gets me is it can't pick up even when it gets it right in the box below, what I want.

I'll say 'open winamp' and it'll write what I said, then it tries to fire up one of the wing commander games I have installed (usually highlights 2, asks if I mean the others.)

I do agree having used 7, 8.1 and now this, 10 is the best setup for the most part. I do dislike not being able to right click installed programs like in Win 8 and before and get the properties open to mess with command line and all the other junk. It's blocked from doing so with the unpin/pin, etc dumbed down limited choices. I had to go in and manually remove WinAmp's safe mode executable as it kept wanting to choose that.

Netflix the app I installed as it seemed like a no brainer, but given this is a phone OS too with that whole pile of apps, I wonder what would be some useful stuff to apply to the computer (like netflix) that isn't already fairly easy to fire up online or whatever. I imagine there may even be a few windows mobile games that could potentially work with a gamepad.

I'm not sure what you're asking me. My laptop has a built in mic, which is what I'm using. It works well. I enabled the "hey Cortana" thing.

The Netflix app feels slicker to me than going to the website. Personal preference of course.

I was under the impression that Windows Phone apps don't work on PC's. Has that changed w/ 10? For instance, I'm pretty sure there's a Spotify app for Windows phone, however no Spotify app is in the Windows (PC) store.

Speaking of apps, I noticed that Minecraft Windows 10 Beta came with the install (or maybe the recent update now that I think of it). I've never spent more than a half hour with Minecraft. But having a free copy might persuade me to look into it. Unless this is just a demo or something?

I was asking if you used an independent mic like on a headset or the one on the laptop itself like I have. I find it tends to goof up some stuff in detection but is overall quite good. It was more of an added annoyance mentioning it refusing to open winamp seeing it as a reason to open wing commander (despite cortana detecting winamp in the box below.)

I have no idea how if the phone apps or not work. I had figured some must have since it appears the Netflix app was an option. I've used it a couple of times and it's far nicer than the website.

I think that has changed with 10. But it's a going forward thing. If they update the app to work with Windows Mobile 10 it should work with Windows 10 PC. Or vice versa (which is what most apps will do) if they make a Windows 10 PC app it should work with Win 10 Mobile.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
