I have no clue if this is a VGA box question or if I am just doing something not right here.
So possibly the most defining moment of my gaming life happened today. There is a little shop by me called Game Hits. They sell used games from a verity of console all the back to the olden days. Well today I was lucky enough to be in there and find the PAL Shenmue 2 for $60.
So I get home and I wanted to see what it looked like and what not. The game came with a Super Game Converter from Innovation. Well I have my DC hooked up to my Samsung 32" HDTV via VGA Box. http://www.racketboy.com/store/sega-dre ... eo-av.html that one
Well I get the Sega logo that comes up but afterwards I get a "Mode not supported" on my TV. Which I heard can happen on this converter. So I just swap the discs and again I get the Sega logo and then get "Mode not supported" AGAIN. From what I've read the PAL Shenmue 2 should work just fine on a VGA box.
I saw while on the default cables from the DC I saw that SOMETIMES the boot disc comes up with a cable and NTSC/PAL selection. Am I supposed to be using this? Or trying to guess when it comes up on my HDTV?
Any help would be great. Thanks.

I have the racketboy VGA box with both VGA and s-video outputs.. But what should I do for sound? There are two options.. The mini 3.5 inch headphone style output next to the VGA port, and the red and white RCA outputs paired with the S-video/composite output.
I understand they're probably roughly identical.. But if I was being picky which should I go with.. A mini to RCA cable or two straight RCA cables?

RCA cables will generally be thicker wires than the ones in a mini stereo plug cable. Thicker wire means less resistance assuming the mini plug wire isn't exceptionally good and the RCA exceptionally bad. So yeah, RCA if you have one already.

Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
Hello,
Today I've received the VGA Box (not from this site, but it is the same unit) for my PAL Dreamcast and I've recently bought several cables to make use of this box. One of them is an S-Video cable and that's where the problem is. If I use this cable I get a black & white screen that shakes a lot. The cable is fine (it was around $25.00 so I asume it works), but I'm afraid there's something with the VGA Box. When I opened the package I noticed some sort of dust on the S-video output.
On the other hand I'm wondering if it matters that my Dreamcast is a 50Hz PAL machine and that that might me the reason why it isn't working, as if it sends some sort of NTSC signal which the S-Video can't pick up properly.
So the main question is: Can someone help me out with this problem?

Hi i'm new here but I have to say that the VGA box I got from racketboy is a great buy and looks wonderful on my 50inch pioneer. Thank you for the great service and fast shipping.

I have a question about what I need to setup my Dreamcast for VGA. My TV doesn't have a VGA input so I'm guessing I need to get a HDMI converter? So would I need to buy a VGA box, VGA cable, and then a VGA --> HDMI converter?
Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.
If I were you I'd just buy a less expensive large CRT or LCD Computer Monitor.
In my opinion, The Dreamcast looks the best displayed on CRT and LCD Computer Monitors!
Im not much of a fan using the HDTV using vga.

I am about to get a hold of a VGA Box for about 18$. My mom doesn't want me to go on the living room TV (42" Sharp Aquos) so I have to play downstairs which doesn't have VGA port. I was wondering if it's worth just for the S-Video and sometimes VGA?
