It's about time. I feel like they have wanted to move in that direction for some time. They already have in some games like Crisis Core, which was really good. They certainly have developed something of an action rpg template from the Kingdom Hearts games too
I read somewhere that FF13 was about trying to recreate the sort of the cinematic action from Advent Children. You need a full on action rpg for that.

Seriously. Screw you Shao Kahn I'm gonna play Animal Crossing.
Does the fact that you need PS+ for multiplayer mean that we won't see so many games shove it down our throat, or just the opposite? Is every game going to be a marketing tool to get people to buy PS+ with tacked on multiplayer modes and trophies, otherwise known as the Microsoft approach?

Yup, or get PS+. I fnd the PSN discounts alone (for games I can keep) pay for the service.
Yeah, but then I'm paying for multiplayer. I didn't do it with Gold and I won't do it for PS+.
Fortunately, the vast majority of games I play multiplayer I play on the PC anyway. The main multiplayer games I have on the PS3/360 are fighters, and I'm terrible at those anyway.

It seems a lot of the key staff (writer, producers, etc) behind FFXV, are the guys who were heavily involved in FFVII, VIII, and X. And then there's composer Yoko Shimomura!
As everyone here knows by now I think XIII left a huge stain for me, but damn I should have looked into this sooner. I'm definitely very interested and optimistic now. I just hope the gameplay holds up. It looks pretty chaotic, but not quite as Uncharted-scripted like to me or whatnot (which I'm not a huge fan of). It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out, could really go either way I guess.
Was probably the most shocking thing for me this E3.
I was already pretty set on PS4 over Xbox, but after seeing sony's conference I was sold. I loved how plainly they put it out there, No online checkups, Yes to used games, Yes to sharing games. Sony has more exclusive franchises that I care about anyway, so it just makes the decision that much easier. And for the first time, I am pre ordering a console instead of taking my chances waiting all night like I have in the past.
Not sure if this video was posted already, but I got a good kick out of it:
I still would really like to see info about Fallout 4, and I'm also actually anticipating Nintendo's Direct thingy.
But so far I'm very happy with what I've seen. PS4 blew the show out of the water. Diablo 3 confirmed for a console release on PS3 and 4. Kingdom Hearts 3 confirmed. Final Fantasy XV. The Witcher 3. Destiny looked surprisingly good. Mad Max looks intriguing. Wolfenstein: The New Order looks surprisingly awesome. Star Wars: Battlefront 3, awesome of course. Dragon Age: Inquisition has potential. Theif IV has me hyped. And even an MMO. Elder Scrolls Online, has me interested. Though I'll have to wait about subscription fee information. EDIT: Also Dark Souls 2 and MGSV. How could I forget them?
Over all, I'm super excited. My wallet isn't though. He's very scared.

I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.
