From the department of thats just bloody cool, I give you 3d printed records:

So yes, the quality is not there yet, but this is really exciting.

Whoa, that's neat.

That combined with this...

Ohhh.. the possibilities. I've seen other articles on people just snapping pictures of records and being able to reproduce them pretty accurately.

Have any of you had the opportunity to use any of those pricey laser turntables out there? They use a laser instead of a needle to read the groove, and they are analog, not digital, in the way they read the groove. Very gentle on records, though the record has to be clean for a quality read.

Listened to The Point last night while following along with the comic. Such an incredible piece of art. The music is wonderful (I'm still whistling Me & my Arrow), the "point" is thought provoking, and it's time well spent.

In this thread: Hipsters.

I kid, I kid. I was trying to get on the Vinyl bandwagon about year ago, but I can't seem to find parts for my specific record player. I know it needs a new needle and a belt to spin the table, other than that I think it would work perfectly. My dad gave me quite a few of his old albums, and I had recently came across an Iron & Wine album that was awesome.

I liked Iron & Wine before hipsters did.
