We are a little more than half way through the month; so, I thought that I would update my list. (As always, the new entries are in bold.)

I received a few of my charity auction winnings a few days ago, and I am one of the lucky few who tracked down a copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening (3DS), my biggest purchase this month. The biggest surprise, however, has been Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy (3DS), which I am really, really enjoying at the moment. (It is a really fun rhythm game that really cashes in on classic Final Fantasy nostalgia.)

In any event, my wife and I are taking a trip to Asheville, North Carolina this weekend, and I always pick up a lot of games whenever we visit. Accordingly, I should have a lot to add before the end of the month.

I got this for $1.99 at GameStop last year, complete. I don't know why it was so dang cheap, because it's a fantastic shoot-em up.

As far as Treasure offerings go it isn't that great and many shmup snobs enthusiasts poo poo it so it isn't that popular. I think it is just fine and $2 for a complete copy is great IMHO.

I have been on a big Playstation 1 kick lately. I just picked up Wild Arms 1 & 2 and am having a blast. I also got today a sealed copy of GTA 1, as well as a sealed first run copy of Chrono Cross from Goodwill!

I think I'm done for February, so time to update. I went nuts this month, but actually spent very little. I took in all the Genny/SNES/N64/PS1 games that I had never managed to sell on here and traded them in at the new game store near me, and happened to do so on a B2G1 sale day... so I pretty much wiped him out of loose NES carts :lol: So, that is where 90% of these came from. The rest were just flea market pickups.

I love collecting NES carts, and a few sub-sets are:

* the "Captain Commando" Capcom games (i.e., Gun.Smoke, Mega Man, Trojan, etc.);
* the "purple label" Capcom games (i.e., DuckTales, Little Nemo, Mega Man 2-6, etc.);
* licensed Tengen carts (i.e., Gauntlet, RBI Baseball, etc.);
* unlicensed Tengen carts (i.e., Gauntlet, RbI Baseball, Rolling Thunder, Shinobi, etc.).

I've been having a lot of fun picking up games for these subsets! The one I am mainly focusing on to start is the silver Konami games, which I have more than half of now. From there, I think I will go into the purple Capcom games, as there are so many games I want in that subset, and it will set the bar a bit higher than th Konami games.

I'm curious, out of those 3 pricey Capcom games (SB, RR2, DT2), which do you prefer? I plan on picking one of them up when taxes come in, as my first "gem" so-to-speak. I'm leaning towards one of the platformers, but just can't decide which one to go for.

You have grabbed some great games this month! I remember when I started collecting NES games in earnest. It was so much fun grabbing heaps of common games for next to nothing.

I am also glad to hear that you are going for the "silver label" Konami games first. None of the games in that sub-set are particularly valuable, but the sub-set contains some amazing games that have held up really well (i.e., Castlevania I - III, Contra, Gradius, Jackal, Life Force, Super C, etc.).

Finally, to answer your question, I prefer DuckTales 2 to any of the other rare/valuable Capcom games. (Full Disclosure: I have not yet acquired Snow Brothers, but I have played it on an emulator.) The DuckTales gameply is very, very solid, and while the second Ducktales game is not as good as the first, it is still one of the best games on the NES. (To be honest, all of the rare/valuable Capcom games are pretty good; so, I don't think that you will be disappointed with any of them.)

About bloody time

Image

I walked into GS, at this point they recognize me as that guy who really wants the Fire Emblem game. Lucky for me UPS had arrived apparently just a few hours before I showed my face. They opened the box and there it was!

They only got 2 copies and, according to them, they have no idea if they'll be getting any more.

So I'm quite the happy camper. Once I finish my math test I think I'll finish up RE: Revelations and start on Fire Emblem! :mrgreen:

So in my nice little collection stash is where it now resides :D

Good call, i also had to debate on buying the only copy my Target had, and glad i did, as Amazon is still out of stock and 3rd party sellers still selling them for $60+.

It's a good decision, the Fire Emblem games hold their value EXTREMELY well so most likely it will always be $40 (or more).

That's a very good point. I hadn't thought of that before.

You guys are great. You're making me feel better and better about my purchase :mrgreen:

I'm glad a lot people here seem to be having good luck with finding this.

Today's finds..........

Image

Bull Moose Music - Waterville, Maine: Zone of the Enders ($7), Summoner ($3) and five Atari games - Kaboom!, Circus Atari, Bowling, RealSports Football, and Ice Hockey ($2 each).

Amazon: Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard ($4 + shipping). Wish I had done a little research on this one before purchasing. I thought it was a Windows Vista/7 game, it's actually a Windows 2000/XP game. Crashes when I attempt to load it on my computer. Time to drag the old PC out of the closet...

I'll probably pick up Etrian Odyssey IV shortly after launch and then I'm done for the month.
