We should be able to name 200 original Genesis games without resorting to bootleg games and hacks. Homebrew is a fine line but I'm ok with that over the other two.
You've played a lot more Genesis than I have, then. I had to tap out at my 112 entry of Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin. I can't think of any more good Genesis games that haven't already been named.

Easily the best classic Ghostbuters game for a home system. A platformer where you can run around and shoot/zap and trap ghosts in haunted houses? Can't believe it took someone so many years to get it right!

Pier Solar isn't official neither are the other 2. Aside from that I see no difference between home-brew/unlicensed pirate. None of them should count realistically.

Really? Because we haven't even gone through all the sequels and multi-system ports yet (Sonic 1, Warsong, Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game, etc.)

Also, I'm a bit new to the pirate-cart / homebrew line. What's the difference other than one is being sold? (Or is homebrew not allowed to use licensed characters, such as how Beats of Rage uses KOF characters.)

I guess the difference, to me, between Pier Solar and real pirate games is that those games literally rip off other titles by using sprites, sounds and music from them. Pier Solar is an original creation given all the care and polish of an officially licensed Genesis product. It just doesn't deserve to be classified with pirate games. Shui Hu Feng Yun Zhuan seems like it rips screams from Streets of Rage games and uses sprite movements that look exactly like Knights of the Round on the SNES. That just makes it feel like a pirate game

I can throw a whole bunch of quality, licensed, real shmups to round the list out but someone said at the start of this list they didn't want to see too many so I have been very conservative with naming them

125.The Immortal-Screw censorship this game is bloody fun and rather difficult but cult classic.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I guess we can leave them on there for simplicity's sake, but no more pirate or unlicensed games from this point on. Though we can certainly discuss them after the list hits 200. Maybe we'll do a top ten unlicensed Genesis games or something like that. Certainly doesn't hurt to show people even more options for stuff they can play on the Genesis
