Wait. What? Inazuma got banned?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I don't think ANYONE here actually doesn't like the guy. Yeah, I felt offended by some of the stuff he typed, but none of it was at the level where I felt any sort of disdain for the guy. That wasn't even in any retro video game related threads (which is the entire point of this thread). It was all, to my knowledge, in politics, social issues or modern gaming (especially DLC or legalize type stuff). All side issues here.

I think he added more to this site than he took away.
I can confirm that I don't like Inazuma on a personal level. Opinion-wise I found myself agreeing with him half the time, and disagreeing the other half. But it was the way he carried himself that really pissed me off. For someone as against religious dogmatism he was knee deep in his own dogmatism; the only way I could tell him apart from a Westboro member was he didn't claim we were all going to hell.

Let me make this perfectly clear. If he actually added more to this site then he took away, we probably wouldn't have banned him. But he was poisonous to this community. His "contributions" to many discussions derailed threads and got every member of the moderation team lots of PMs wondering why he wasn't banned yet. This is not some oppression by the evil moderators. The fact that YOU might have liked him doesn't change the fact that we're better off without him.

He is not coming back.
Well, no arguments about how he presented himself religiously. Maybe I liked that he made me think on my toes when I read his stuff? I disagreed with him on a ton of levels, but... I don't know. :D I guess I didn't deal with him much, except on one occasion (which wasn't pleasant, for the record).
He posted dangerous things. Unsettling things. Exposing young children to pornography was probably the worst in my opinion - but there were many.
 I missed that one.

Maybe there was lots I missed?

I just want to say that I don't think anyone expected this much backlash from banning him.

I'm so glad to have my avatar back again

Very surprising indeed. The news certainly didn't darken my day any, not that I've been around a lot lately anyway. I am surprised at the love for the guy to say the least. Although, I'm not exactly passionate on the topic of Inazuma one way or the other.

The fact that he caused so much drama before being banned is a testament to just how much leeway is given on these forums. Not the opposite as some have mentioned.

Everyone refusing to accept how others feel about the ban.

Inazuma would be proud.

I'm glad Luke got in touch with him and let us know whats going on, even if its disagreeable.

I think I'll also post and confirm that I'm totally sympathetic towards the mods' decision. Inazuma could definitely be fun and make entertaining contributions, but the general poisoning of threads with ill will and anger just got tiresome. It was simply unpleasant to be poking around the forum and suddenly come across one of his excessively hateful tirades.

I can tell you that, based on some conversations I've had with the other mods, we really do appreciate comments like these that have been made in this thread. We really did end up in a situation where we felt that we had no other course of action to take. Suffice to say, Inazuma is not the only person to ever get multiple warnings, and at some point we had to take action so as to remain consistent and fair to all members. We certainly gave him his due deference, and if we erred at all then it was on the side of letting him stick around as long as we did - not in kicking him out.

*takes mod hat off*

Speaking for myself, I am personally a little sad to see Inazuma go, and I wish he'd have learned to stop being so antagonistic about his dogmatic beliefs. Like many of you I often found myself in agreement with him on some matters (at least up to a certain point), and when I disagreed with him I could usually have a reasonable discussion. I probably spent more time arguing with him about argumentation techniques than about the substance of his claims, but nonetheless...
