It all make sense now.
haha. Yeah.
I wouldn't have thought the wheel would work better than the Hori pad, but you made a valiant effort for our benefit, thank you.
I try these things so YOU don't have to!

2032s are the size for NES/SNES/Saturn/VMU/PC. GB carts use a smaller CR1616. The other problem is that there is usually room to add a socket in a NES/SNES cart, but there's no extra room in a GB cart. Now if you got tabbed batteries, removing and soldering in a new battery only takes a few minutes. You'd at least be good for another 10+ years.
I used a 2032 on my Pokemon Gold and Silver carts. Do most GB/C games use the CR1616 or was it just the Pokemon carts that used the 2032?
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

And then the blog updates, right? Gotta please your audience.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Hmm, I opened up the dead Pokemon Red that I have, and it does have a larger battery in it. Though it is a CR2025, not a 2032. It's the same size as a 2032. I'd forgotten that one was bigger since it's been a long time since I got and tried to look for issues. Every other later GBC game in a clear shell I have is a smaller 1616 battery though: Bomberman Max Blue Champion, Crystalis, both Zelda Oracle games. Pretty sure the others were as well when I opened and cleaned them.

I forgot how slim the pickings were when the GBC hit the shelves. What was Nintendo thinking? Well, then again, 1998 was smack dab in the Nintendo 'dark ages' where they did everything they could to lose market share.

Just out of curiosity, do you know if the Japanese GBC launch was more impressive?

SLIGHTLY more impressive... it had:

Dragon Quest Monsters
Hexcite
Pocket Bowling
Tetris DX
Wario Land II

Really cool post!

I have to agree with you- why Nintendo didn't try something like the 'Classic NES Series' on the GBC, I'm not sure. My best guess is that they had the GBA (Atlantis) road map well developed around the time of the GBC and they were sort of keeping the powder dry.

That's a despicable launch lineup, yup. :-D But I must disagree on Tetris DX. Playing that on the GBC was a revelation and well worth the upgrade for me. (As Super Mario Bros Deluxe would later be) Colorized GB titles were still limited to 4 simultaneous - albeit pallet shifted - colors, versus native GBC games with up to 56 onscreen colors. Plus the rocket ships, man... the rocket ships.

PS, Hexcite rocks!

I'm planning at some point a huge GBA launch post, but I'm having some trouble and hoping somebody on here can help me out. I'm trying to get a 100% positive list of the GBA titles that were available on LAUNCH DAY. Not a list of titles available in the first month, or around launch -- but the actual positive list of the titles you could choose from if you bought a GBA on the day it was launched.

I have one source that lists 17 titles.
Another that says 20.
And yet another that says 25.

Who can absolutely offer me PROOF of the official line-up?

Thanks!!
