I've got to say, the Neo-Geo Pocket Color is a wonderful system, and i still think that the thumb stick is the greatest on any handheld video game console in my opinion. I just wish they would have put out more games for it, It has SO much potential.

Just got a NGPC a few weeks ago, my wife got it for me as a wedding present along with about 10 games (16 carts but some are doubles- a few imports in there), and while I was in Seattle I found KoFR2, Match of the Millennium and Bust-a-Move. Absolutely loving the system, aside from the lack of a backlit screen it's easily the best pre-DS handheld I've ever played (the fact that the DS smoothly emulates Neo*Geo arcade games kind bumps it up :v).

Totally enamored with this system. The thumbstick is better than pretty much any home console gamepad stick.

so I got a NGPC, and I got CvS: Match of the Millenium. I can see that the hardware is built great. I can see that the game is really good... but... I don't know. It feels just as good as some of the Takara GB games I've played. And I don't know. I'm not really that impressed in general? Like, it's good. But nothing amazing to me. Is that weird. I just kind of feel like "oh yeah this is good" but not sure it's something I see myself actively collecting now. Thoughts?

Can't judge hardware by one game. Then again, I've never played CvS (or even know what it stands for), so who am I to say?

(looks it up) Oh, SvC...

Match of the Millennium is pretty bad ass but it was also SNK working with characters and properties they weren't so familiar with. Gals Fighter was the last SNK fighter released on the NGPC and it is like MotM on crack...with boobs.

Also try to get a copy of Sonic Pocket Adventure. That game does a great job of showing off what the NGPC can do. It's also one of the best Sonic games ever made, in my opinion.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I just spent the last hour playing Samurai Shodown 2 for the first time and it is a GREAT Pocket Fighter game. Just the right difficulty curve for me and gorgeous looking backgrounds and sprites.

EDIT: I agree with Flake that Sonic Pocket Adventure is one of the best Sonic games ever made. Definitely check into that one. iirc, it reminded me a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (which I prefer over the first).

It draws heavily on Sonic 2 and a little bit on CD and Sonic 3.

No sure about advanced hardware (note that you could call the GB outdated before it was even released), but the games SNK put out for their portable was nice. You'll never see the likes of MotM or Faselei for awhile, if ever.
