Autographed picture from the Blackhawks on their last game in Chicago Stadium (Remember the Roar), a huge autographed still of Stan Mikita, and my Mom said this quilt should be finished within a month:

This my friends will be one for the record.
Wow Luke your parents are awesome! I want a 8 bit character quilt! And that Stan Mikita pic should be worth some money down the line.

Awesome quilt! (reminds me of the one I have) The only thing that's bothering me is the arrows don't go all the way around.

Thus the "should be finished within a month".

:) : My girlfriend spoiled me for my birthday today.

She got me:
Majora's Mask T-shirt
Sam & Max: Surfin' the Highway comic anthology
Hardcore Gaming 101: Guide to Classic Graphic Adventures
My Neighbour Totoro DVD
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for DS.

The best part was that I didn't directly tell her to buy any of these. I love surprise presents.

Luckily I;ve gotten her something she really wanted for Christmas too - tickets to see The Book of Mormon - so I'll be able to return the favour tomorrow.

I also got Up on Poppy Hill on DVD and a Terry Pratchett book and calendar from her aunt too. It's been a good birthday already, and I've barely gotten started yet!

:( : No one's around all morning, and later on I have to get the horrible crowded Christmas train.

:): On the plus side, then I'm all set for Christmas!

Thanks duder! And I haven't opened up any gifts from them yet. These were just "here ya go"(s). My little hockey collection includes (besides all my sweaters):

Eddie the Eagle Sweater
Signed Denis Savard stick
Signed "Stash" picture
Signed Kosh photo from Remember the Roar
Piece of Roy's net from the Stanley Cup (2001)
Four game pucks, caught by yours truly
...and a bunch of other nick knacks, but ^ that's the good stuff.

Yup. It has ways to go. After the arrows are done, there is an additional border so it can cover a full sized bed. Quoth my Mother "I'm just getting started". She estimated that she spent $300 on materials alone. She makes her quilts Amish style, so it takes a lot of time and what I posted is a rough draft at best (which is still awesome).

I actually asked her to make the pattern look Amish (using jelly roll material...I know too much about quilting), but she strongly encouraged a clean look so the pattern would "pop".

Smile: My Mother surprised us with a homemade apple cheese tort for breakfast. That tort is arrogantly delicious.

:) : Wrapping was done last night. Presents are under the tree. No work today and yummy Maldasher for dinner. It was a nice, relaxing day.

:( : Gotta finish packing tomorrow for when we leave to visit family on the 26th. It'll be nice to see them and all, but traveling....Bah.

:D : My uncle is coming for Christmas dinner tomorrow. So that will be nice.

:( : A couple of the NES games I picked up a while ago, upon closer inspection, appear to have some very mild corrosion. Using current on hand items didn't seem to help, so it appears I will have to pick up some contact cleaner. Of course, I'm going to be gone for the next week, so testing is going to have to be postponed until the end of the year.

Super ticked: I ordered a thing of Portillo's Italian beef since I'm on vacation for two weeks. It shipped overnight and was supposed to be delivered today. The tracking number showed on the truck for delivery, but the day grew late and the tracking number updated the estimated delivery date to now be Thursday on an overnight order. I'm hoping it stays cold enough in the insulated packaging. Apparently there were too many people who ordered last minute Christmas gifts and the local UPS wasn't able to handle all the volume. You'd think they would prioritize something that was labeled "perishable".

"violent video games don't come with warning signs"

Really? What's that giant "M" on the corner of the box that says "NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 17" etc then?

Yeah, it is hilariously terrible. "We did our homework on these violent games, trust us" So dont go letting your 13 year old play NCAA football.
