Do not bring your resume under any circumstances. You should appear as someone who is established in the local buisiness community. Having your corporate business card readily available will accomplish this and provide people with your contact information for networking opportunities (and potentially job offers...but those will come later). Passing out a resume - in addition to being tacky - would accomplish exactly the opposite. (The same holds for "personal" business cards.) If you want someone to have your "personal" contact information, quickly write it on the back of your corporate business card when you are passing it to him or her.

You will need shined shoes and a pressed shirt. (It does not have to be freshly pressed, however.) Also - and especially since you are not entirely ssure about the purpose of the meeting - you should either: (1) do some more research regarding the meeting and what is expected of you; or (2) be prepared to improvise it.

^ I agree with you on almost every point, the exception being "personal business cards". I'm cucumber status now and will take this as a learning experience and will cautiously test the waters.

I may or may not use the "I'll put my personal number on the back of my card" tactic as I always feel like I'm trying to invite someone into some special club. I also am not a fan of "Here's my work number, but if you REALLY need to contact me my home number is on the back".

Small complaint: Getting your shoes shined, polished, and resoled really stinks when you only drop off the shoes. Not that shoe shiners resole shoes, but I miss the gab that goes with getting your shoes shined.

I'm surprised you don't have your own polish and such for times you're not getting shined in person.

Sorry if this is too much of a brag post, but having a great day today.

First the cool front is moving through. It is also my Friday as I work 4 10 hour days. I received an award today for exemplary work with our India office group which came with a nice little bonus. A few of us were then treated to a lunch by a vendor at Chauma Gaucha which is a delicious Brazilian Steakhouse. Then after lunch I received a call from my boss informing me I am getting a $4 an hour raise.

I don't think I have had this good of a day in a long while. Makes me kinda disappointed for tomorrow...
