I think it's probably a Tylosaurus and an exaggerated one at that. Not that I mind a bit of exaggeration. It was a cool shot I'll admit but still, I'm not feeling it.

I'm interested. Surely it won't be worse than Lost World.

Still looks to be a by-the-numbers reboot.

EDIT - Ridley Scott won't be directing Blade Runner sequel. At this point it doesn't matter really.. VOD potential at best.

BOYHOOD

I have never seen another movie like this before. It is a fictional movie by Richard Linklater (Waking Life, Before Sunset, A Scanner Darkly, etc.) that shot the same actors over a period of 12 years so that the storyline could follow the main character from being a child up through adolescence and into young adulthood. I was really blown away by this one. It captures so many aspects of what it means to grow up in this age. It's really a fantastic film through and through. I feel confident in recommending it to everyone.

Granted I haven't seen Boyhood, but Red Letter Media didn't care for it much. I've found that my taste in movies as agreed fairly well when watching their reviews of stuff I've watched first before the review. I really wanted to like A Scanner Darkly, but thought it was terribly boring, despite looking interesting and being based on a Philip K Dick story. The bits of Waking Life I've seen also didn't do anything for me beyond the visual gimmick. So just a thought that YMMV.

Well, it's also currently got 99% on aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, as well as 100% on Metacritic, so I think your guys are pretty securely in the minority. I stand by my recommendation. But yes, it's not Guardians of the Galaxy, so don't go expecting that.

They weren't actually comparing it to GoTG. That was just part of their skit banter. Just saying one's enjoyment might depend on their enjoyment of other Linklater films. But it's ok. It is like me being one of the 5 or 6 people that hate Deus Ex too. So maybe that's just another recommendation unless you're someone that agrees with me on Deus Ex. *shrug*

That movie makes me wonder why more bad guys haven't seen movies. And they certainly don't understand the sunk cost fallacy. Even at the start of the movie it seems like he'll be reasonable as he understands exactly what he's up against. But then he gets dumb anyway so we'd have a movie.

I think that was the most accurate part of the movie.
Why would you expect a sociopath to be rational? People do this kind of shit all the time.

One thing I've noticed about this movie is most people who reviewed it seem to be exceedingly jaded. Like, anything you hear in a film cannot be trusted at all, which means they call bullshit on everything. But I think there's something very honest about human nature in John Wick. It could be me looking into things that aren't there, but it feels far too consistent across the entire movie.

While it can be argued that it's all cliched and well worn territory, I don't think it makes it less accurate or less relevant.

We have plenty of movies where people do things that make no sense. Rational or Irrational, because the films aren't consistent with the characters. I don't think John Wick has that problem, at all.
But, that's just my take.
