Actually there's a game literally called "Iris" on Dreamcast but it looks like some sort of moe visual novel.

Iris is a name used throughout the entire series, so it is quite prevalent. She is kind of like the Mother of all Mana and her name is used like the name Zelda. In Atelier Iris 2, one of the main characters adopts a little girl and her name is Iris. She is adorable and the interaction is very sweet.

That is what I expected. I bought Atelier Iris 2 in 2007 for like $30, I think, and it was new. I've seen the third one pretty frequently. The problem is my massive backlog and my huge PS2 collection.

It's a really fun series. There is little grinding and its just a really enjoyable game. It can be really silly and a bit easy, but it just puts a smile on your face. If you want something fun, simple, cheap and will last you about 40 hours, I say go for it!

Finished up my 8 hour run this morning. Most everyone is familiar with Doom II, so I'll just discuss the mod. Brutal Doom makes a bunch of changes to the core game, including new weapons with altfire modes, headshots, reloading, iron sights, melee fatalities, monster alterations, and tons of bloody gore. 13-year-old me would have loved it for all its BR00TALITY, but current-me found that some of the changes were really for the worse.

Most of this lies within the alterations to the monsters. Changes I wasn't fond of included: jumping Imps, dodging Cacodemons, Mancubi fireballs that turn into damaging fire, Baron of Hell spread shots, Pain Elemental splash damage explosions on death, and giving the Spider Mastermind splash damage on its chaingun. These make the game way harder in a mostly annoying way.

Other small things bothered me too. The plasma rifle now has splash damage and a useless altfire mode, although the plasma rifle sucks anyway, so meh. Reloading added a bit of strategy at first, but basically becomes a nuisance in large groups of monsters. The rocket launcher has this smoke effect that makes it hard to see when firing. Sometimes all the blood gets in the way—there was one level where it took me 15 minutes of running around before I realized the switch I was looking for was on a wall covered up completely with red.

There were some neat changes though. The assualt rifle replacement for the pistol makes the start weapon super useful at all ranges; in fact, it's probably the most accurate weapon in the game. The iron sights make sniping long range enemies more fun. The fatalities are kinda goofy and lose their cool factor after seeing them once, but dealing with a room full of Pinky demons with just your fists while Beserked can actually be to the player's benefit, with the +5 health bonus on fatalities sometimes leaving you with more health in a low ammo situation than when you started. New death sequences and gibs for many monsters liven up the gameplay from just seeing the same "zombie soldier falls down" over and over (though some may find the extended dying screams a bit much). Kicking Arachnotron heads around like soccer balls after you kill them is pretty entertaining.

All in all, it was merely an interesting new way to run through a classic game, not "OMG THIS IS HOW DOOM SHOULD BE" like a lot of folks on the intronet would have you believe. It's worth a shot, though.

I hope you mean whatever changes Brutal Doom has made the Plasma Rifle suck. If you think the base Plasma Rifle sucks then your opinion is invalid.

Fun little satirical platformer skewering DLC and other unfavorable practices of modern gaming. Took out both the main game and the expansion "Live Freemium or Die." Clean pixel art style, happenin chiptunes, tight controls, and a sense of humor. Got some laughs out of me. Worth the short time it takes to playthrough.

Short version: Liked overall, but frequent encounters annoying.

This game was offensive as hell as advertised, but I'm not sure that's the only draw to the game for people. I thought it would be really crappy both from it's notoriety and the way it looked, but wanted to try it out because of it's sort of cult status. I was surprised to find a game that was clunky, not funny, and with less mayhem than it's known for, was actually somewhat fun to play. You basically complete a small handful of tasks each day, which have you go to a different area of town, where something bad happens and you have to shoot/melee your way out. There's a good variety of weapons as well.

It's incredibly easy to get killed and every person in the game seems to be an expert marksman, so it isn't nearly as easy to just run around for a while going nuts like in GTA. It has the feel of a that PS1/N64 era of 3D games, and the extra two days you can play through have some neat nods to survival horror, but I will never play it again. Then again, if you find putting a gun up a cat's rectum funny in any way shape or form (I didn't), then your in luck, because that's the only type of humor in the game. For instance, urinating on yourself is the best way to save yourself if you catch on fire. Can't recommend this one as the only humor is just the game trying to be offensive, which I guess I wouldn't mind as much if the actual game wasn't so clunky.
