Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
The Retron 5 has made it really appealing to pick up more Japanese games for me. I finally had a reason to own Front Mission: Gun Hazard. Along those same lines I can play Assault Suits Valken translated in all of its original glory without settling for the severely cut Cybernator.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Well, I don't have a Retron 5, but I do have an SD2SNES, so I wanted a legit copy of Gun Hazard. I wouldn't have given it a second shot if Exhuminator hadn't recommended I give it a go. It's easily one of the best SNES games out there.

Just finished donkey kong country 2 max percentage for the first time. All the times I've run through this game I never sat down to collect everything.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, looking for all the bonuses and DK coins.

Busy with Demon's Blazon (Demon's Crest) on the Super Famicom.
The music? Great. The graphics? Very nice. The challenge level? Tough, without being unfair. The atmosphere? Wonderfully dark and demonic. The levels? I like their designs and the way they're laid out. You can rarely just zip through them like in Sonic or Mario. And the fact that there is a "real" ending to be had on top of some lesser ones makes the game that much better.
A minor complaint is that you can't change to the different forms on the fly. Going to that sub-screen and then doing the change kinda interrupts the action.

I never miss a chance to plug Demon's Crest. One of the best games on SNES.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Definitely one for the unpopular opinions thread, but I don't like Demon's Crest at all. And I've given it literally about 3-4 very forced and hard shots at it over the years, even bought it last year on the WiiU eshop. But yeah... I just can't shake the feeling that it looks and sounds so much like Super Ghouls n' Ghosts which I grew up with and adore, and is far simpler and to the point. So I can't get over that and can't have fun with Demon's Crest. I'd rather beat Super Ghouls again.

I really liked the first two Gargoyle's Quest games but I could never get into Demon's Crest for whatever reason. It's a beautiful game but it didn't hold my attention.

Same. I just don't like going back to the same areas over and over again.

Deez. I have both of those. The English patches are solid.
Hilarious how this thread has transformed into "How is your Super Famicom gaming going?" over the course of the last few pages. Does this say something about the price of SNES games? I only purchased one domestic title last year, but a handful of imports. There are still several SuFami RPGs I'd like to snag. I'm looking at you, Lennus II.

Jeez, no love for Demon's Crest. What is wrong with you people?
I am curious about one thing... Demon's Crest is simpler than Super Ghouls 'N' Ghosts? I'm just not seeing it. Ghouls is a straightforward but difficult actioner, and Demon's Crest is effectively a proto-Symphony of the Night. Or light Metroid elements, however you want to look at it. Awesome exploration elements abound, and that true ending is tough stuff. Not Ghouls tough, but tough.
