One is hard to choose. I would say the Powerstones, Soul Calibur and Crazy Taxi have to throw at least one Sega game in there. I can be almost assured that even know i can get a newer generation kid to get into either of those games. Although for some reason now i dont enjoy Crazy Taxi as much as i did back then. Virtua Tennis is a good honorable mention.

Oh absolutely. The Dreamcast was an era where risks were taken endlessly. Look at the lineup of first party titles on that system and imagine them being released in today's gaming environment. Checking out the, Old games/series that need to be remade/revived thread, a ton of the stuff is Sega games from the Dreamcast era. We will never see this stuff get a headline or a dedicated successor. It is such a shame!Jmenglan wrote:Pulled out chu chu rocket and seaman, forgot how experimental sega was at this time,I'm hooked

Sega was great at coming up with bankable new ideas but either being too soon or executing them strangely. Samba de Amigo is a game that most people have never heard of. If it was a guitar rhythm game and wasn't as wacky Sega might be in a totally different position right now. Maybe not, but just an example.
Seaman was another one, as mentioned above. Pretty much a Tamagotchi with 1000x more interesting sound and visuals, but again it was so freakin weird. If it was a cute blue turtle or little orange dragon who knows?

Snatch, i was going to make a similar post. I think if Sega had that one mega hit that they needed things might of been different. Either their ideas just missed the mark, timing off, a bit too off the wall or some combination there of. Your Seaman example is a good one. If instead of Maracas they went with Drums or say a Guitar...

I thought Phantasy Star and Shenmue were their mega hits. Shenmue reached over 1m which equals 10% of total install base... not bad.
I also just knew that DC was released for only 1.5 years in the US. This has to be the shortest lived console, the amount of good games released for it in that very short period amazes me. I always thought it was 2.5 years.

Like Drumania, Guitar Freaks, Keyboardmania, or Beatmania - all (but Keyboardmania) released by Konami before Samba De Amigo, and the first three could connect together for multiplayer.bacardipr05 wrote:If instead of Maracas they went with Drums or say a Guitar...

If Sega wouldve held on for just a few more months before making the announcement we probably would of saw a few more awesome games released for the console.RCBH928 wrote:I thought Phantasy Star and Shenmue were their mega hits. Well...
If the Wii U is still getting games, then Sega should have kept the Dreamcast on the market. Couldn't they do like Neo-Geo where they release games on both their console and the competitor's? They basically shut a revenue stream of 10m units.

The WiiU is actually seeing improved sales. They had a really rough start, and while they're not where they want to be, things are looking better now that there are more flagship first-party titles in the library. Besides, Sega had already weathered some tough years with the dying days of the Saturn and the bad-blood between the US and Japanese divisions. Nintendo went into the WiiU flush with cash from the Wii and with the DS market fairly successful. And the 3DS market is still relatively successful. Sega had no such fallback or windfall.
