 Turns out there was an issue when they reactivated my employment status at WDW and I wasn't able to work the shift I picked up today. And last night I picked up another shift for Tuesday so if I don't get it all fixed by then I won't be able to work the two shifts I have for next week (totalling 15 hours), but if I call Casting I can get it fixed (hopefully). And this is long AFTER I somehow managed to go to Costuming and picked up long pants and a long-sleeved undershirt (it's one of those cold times in Florida).

:) My mom got me a cheap hoodie from WalMart today so until she pays the storage (she's gonna do it either tomorrow or Friday, depending on whether they're open on Thanksgiving) I can have something warm, though I still only have shorts at the moment.

:D Sonic Dash is finally out for Android...

:( And it's not compatible with my tablet.

:D Found $20 when I was walking to 7-Eleven to get the paper for my Grandma.

 Apparently Sarah Brightman's training to go into space in 2015 (the year she turns 55, though I was suprised she wasn't in her 30s!) and is gonna be the first vocalist to sing in space.

Also trying to figure out how to fix iTunes, since I've been unable to start it since a recent update. And since it's that time of year, I'm gonna make space on my iTouch for some Christmas tunes (God only knows how many times I'm gonna listen to "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer"). And a few other tracks (the theme songs to "Daria" and "Buffy", as well as some creepy piano tunes from YouTube user Myuuji, which includes "Reversion", "Something's Wrong" and his cover version of "Laura (Reprise)" from Silent Hill 2).

Damn, I'm so PO'ed right now. :x

I went to Barnes and Nobles a couple weeks back to pre-order the new Stephanie Plum novel for my wife for a Christmas present. I go to help desk and bring a copy of a book in the series and everything to make it easier. I ask, "I would like to pre-order the upcoming book in this series." The lady pulls it up, and tells me it's done. I start to take out my debit card, and she tells me that I don't pay for it now. I tell her, "I would rather pay for it now, I have the money now." She says, "You can't do that because the book isn't out yet, we're not allowed to sell it yet." So I say okay.

A week later, I get a call and I'm told it's in. So I go to pick it up. It's a paperback. So I say to the lady, "Is this supposed to be in paperback?" She says yeah. So I say, "When they're brand-new they're usually hard-cover." She says, not this time.

So the reason I tell you all this is because I just found out that I ordered the last one, that's already been out, not the upcoming one.

So then not only did the initial customer service person order the wrong book, but I also COULD HAVE pre-paid for it, because the book actually was out. And when I mentioned the paperback vs. hardcover thing, you'd think that might have clued her in too. But no.

Now I have the wrong book that my wife likely already has. And I STILL have to order the upcoming one. What a waste of time and money. :x

I assume you have a receipt. Return it? Seems like there should be more the story, like maybe the cashier released Pit Vipers on you when you questioned her.

My advice would be to use Amazon in the future. It lets you confirm for yourself that you're ordering the right one and you can preorder with absolutely no fuss.

So much grief. I'm just going to write out the two biggest problems and forget the small stuff. My woman and my father both went into surgery recently for completely unrelated reasons.

My woman went to visit her family in Virginia for Thanksgiving break. While she was in town she saw a specialist doctor to address a long-running concern with her bodily functions. After just a few minutes of exam, the doctor in VA knew that something was wrong. He ordered a round of tests, and performed surgery on her the following day.

It turns out her bladder was eroded away as a complication from an earlier problem. The doctor saved a third of her bladder, and she will recover, but she'll need more surgery in the future.

As a result of this bladder surgery, my woman can not safely perform coitus for the next three months. This is going to be difficult for our relationship, but it's better than the alternative. I'm thankful that she'll recover.

The real kicker is that she has seen NUMEROUS doctors here in West Virginia: a general practitioner, an obgyn, and e.r. doctors who all told her there was nothing wrong. Their excuses ranged from "your tests look fine," to "it's all in your head." The doctors in WV are flat-out awful. If she had not gone to her trusted doctor in Virginia, she would have lost her whole bladder and been on a catheter her whole life.

So I was pretty aggravated about that, but the next bit of grief just floored me.

My father had gastric bypass surgery last week. He told me he was going to turn his life around, stop over-eating, exercise more, loose a ton of weight, get outdoors again, and stop using food as an emotional crutch.

I phoned my dad in Florida yesterday morning to wish him a happy Thanksgiving. No answer.

I phoned again in the evening. No answer.

I got a phone call from my father's number at eleven thirty last night. It wasn't him.

My dad's girlfriend informed me that he had to be rushed into emergency surgery. He's still in ICU. I thanked her for the call.

It turns out that the week before Thanksgiving is not a wise time to have gastric bypass surgery. This is especially true for a man with poor portion control.

So here I am, sitting alone on the floor, belt unsnapped, eating cold leftovers until my depression magically goes away. I live nine hundred miles away from my father, and I still turned into him.

That's all very sad to hear, samsonlonghair. I wish the best to you and everyone involved, it always just feels that much worse when stuff like this happens around the holiday season. I have to admit that I chuckled when you used the term "coitus" though, I don't think I've ever seen someone use that word in such serious context.

I am the opposite with depression and eating. Instead of over eating I tend to shut down for a few days and not eat. I'm not sure which is worse.
