Video Game "Look what I found"
Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
So I just went through the games and did some quick and dirty pricing on them, and the lot is worth way more than I had thought. Some of the genesis games go for quite a bit more than I would have guessed, while most of the NES games are very cheap. Still, $100 is a fracton of the total estimated value.

yeah dude, you made out really well. the condition/completeness of the genesis games alone is well worth over $100. i'd be taking your friend out for a drink or two or three sometime soonjay_red wrote:So I just went through the games and did some quick and dirty pricing on them, and the lot is worth way more than I had thought. Nice grab Jayred
Stopped at a last minute garage sale Saturday, found Einhander in a stack of .50 cent PC games. Also grabbed two spare PS1 decks for 5 bucks total. I am trying to build a stack of PS1's as tall as me LOL. I just dont know why I cannot walk buy a cheapy and not buy it. I have literally 20 of them. Been giving them away lately to people who are not in a position right now to buy games/systems. It is amazing watching someone enjoy the old PS1. Also, all my disc only dupes are finding homes LOL.

Dang, I miss book-off. If there were a Book-off and Trader in New England, it would truly be the perfect place. That's pretty nutty on Elevator Action, though. I remember seeing it in retailers for upwards of 9000 yen.DocHauser wrote:Been buying some cheap PS1, Saturn and NeoGeo CD games here in Kyoto, in the 2nd-hand Book Off stores. You don't usually see rarer games for sale, but occasionally there are some decent offers...
Most of those were around 500 to 900 yen ($5 to $9), apart from DoDonPachi, which was about $25. Nice box art on the Japanese RayCrisis, too.
The Samurai Spirits & Fatal Fury 3 discs were only 100 yen ($1!) each; I think G:MOTW was about 400 or 500 yen, while Elevator Action Returns was 900 yen. A pretty good deal, since I've seen that going for over $50 on ebay...

I have not had a chance to pop the gem into the Genesis, but hopefully all the praise I have heard about it is warranted.SamuraiMegas wrote:ballz.jay_red wrote: Let me know if any of these others are gems

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
I just looked at the receipt for Elevator Action Returns, actually it was 950 yen, so I was exaggerating slightly.
The good thing about Book Offs is that the games are nearly always in excellent condition too. It's tempting to buy a lot more stuff, but I've only got two months left in Japan, so there's the problem of transporting it all back to Europe in the end...

After seeing CRT's UB Funkey's Guide - I got the bug as i'm prone to do and immediately bid on a bunch of ebay lots, the first batch arrived today:
I haven't searched through the guide to see if I got any rares yet - nor have I downloaded the actual game, but my kids already played with them for an hour so they've already paid for themselves. I spent about $100 for 50 funkey's and 3 portals, the rest should be here this week.
