I can't test that but that's interesting about the PAL switch. The retron tech was on a couple week vacation he told me returning I think yesterday so maybe that'll be something you could bring up to have looked at?
It took me 2 months to get my crap sorted out and then I had a week vacation(kind of) with parents in town for my kids b'day week so I haven't really used it at all. To think I started on a gray system and ended up with a black one.
By the way I know it's super common so you all must have the game, fire up SMB2, see if it detects it in the slot. It appears depending on the revision of the game it will or will not detect in the R5 due to some mystery glitch in the nes emulator plugin somewhere as it did awhile back earlier in development.

Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
I fired up my Retron for a bit this weekend to test out some games. Lagrange Point on Famicom works perfectly with the new translation patch. For some reason the partially completed patches on romhacking.net for Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War do not seem to work whether I use the header option or not. I will have to see if I can find a different translation patch.
Also I noticed that my new copy of Adventure Island Collection for GBA flickers really bad on all games. I toggled on and off all of the display options and nothing seemed to fix it. It's almost unplayable with all the background flicker.

That's interesting. I was thinking of buying that GBA game as I have the Bomberman1+2 one and it doesn't have the issue. I'm actually getting rid of that one at the moment if you're looking for it, it's complete too, not just the game. One of many victims of my need for a solid gaming laptop.

Matty, mine works at 50Hz on the games I've tried. (NES Digger T. Rock) eg. The PAL version doesn't work at 60Hz.

This should hopefully work for you. Let me know. If there's others you need that you're having trouble finding you can also check the mediafire link in the OP. I'm the one that's made/fixed and posted patches in that link.

Yes, this patch works perfectly, thank you. The translation is rough but I think I can actually play the game now. Also thank you very much for putting all these awesome patches in one handy place!

No problem. The patch I based it off of is unfortunately about the most complete it's probably ever going to be seeing as no one seems to have an interest in finishing off the translation these days. If you have a request to make for a patch that you can't get working feel free to voice it since I check this thread occasionally.
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Skel28 well that is really weird.
I didn't actually discover this issue, a member on another forum (Bear and Badger-Retro thread) bought one and asked whether my 50Hz setting worked on the Retron as his didn't.
To see whether it did or not I did a few tests using PAL Sonic 1 on the Retron 5 and then my modded Megadrive. I found that whatever mode I set the Retron 5 to it played at 60Hz.
Playing the same game on my modded Megadrive at 50Hz you can immediately tell the difference (its quite easy to tell with Sonic as the music plays slower at 50HZ and you get the massive borders). Switching to 60Hz on the Megadrive played as per the Retron 5
I wonder whether this issue is format related. I only have one NES game at the moment so I will have to test it and feed back.
I would be interested to hear what Hyperkins response to this is. I can imagine that as the Retron 5 has not been officially released yet in PAL territories that this issue has not yet been fully explored.

Hey Mattygodd, I have mine set to 60Hz and the only games that I've seen 'having a bit of a wobbble' are a couple of NES games. Let me know what you have had issues with and I'll happily try it on mine. I'm also in UK mate.
Cheers.

Hey I wanted to throw something out there I learned looking at a random google link today.
The Retron 5 I finally got that works, the black one, is the NEW model that's $20 more.
How do I know? It has tells. For starters the glossy top part is completely solid now, it doesn't bend when you go to remove a game and push on it for support. The pins inside while snug, they're new console snug, they're not death grip tight from various peoples complaints and they look more rigid(firm/quality) a little too. Also, they started to include on them nicer controller ports on the side which also have rubber seal caps over them to keep them safe and clean. I don't recall any other obvious things at this rate which would make it clear, but it appears at the least these exterior physical changes account for the price bump if not more inside we can't see or feel.
