This statement seems a little out of place for this message board. I mean, I just paid $135 for Earthbound from a fellow board member and I considered it a great deal!

Had a surprisingly pleasant experience there today. Got a new copy of Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland for only $21.49 (it seems to be over $50 anywhere else). Also picked up a cheap mint-condition used copy of Adventures to Go!

The clerk had an Atari Jaguar pin on and I commented on it. We started chatting about retro consoles and I mentioned that I had recently purchased a 3DO. She knew exactly what I was talking about and stated that she also owned a FZ-1. Retro gamers work at GameStop? Who knew!

Walked into GS just to browse. Noticed that GC games are buy 2 get 1 free, then I stumbled across a tiny cardboard box that said GBA games 75% off. I was pickin' through scraps but I managed to pick up:

F-Zero GX (GC), Space Raiders (GC), and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (GC); all CIB as well as Super Monkey Ball Jr. (GBA), and Virtua Tennis (GBA) for under $10.

A total steal.

Look out for those GBA clearance boxes, peeps!

I picked up a slim ps3 yesterday. I went to a Gamestop I don't normally go to and the clerk was really getting on my nerves. I walked in went straight to the counter. I knew what I wanted and said the whole promotion going on and then said I am not going to renew the power up rewards and that there was nothing I wanted to pre order. Then he proceeded to talk about how used games are better then new games because they are just as good and cheaper. He Also started to suggest games I should preorder and started talking about renewing my power up rewards. I wish I would have told him to eat a dick that I was in a hurry and didn't have time to explain why he was wrong.

You sir, are a very lucky man. What a haul. I still need to find a store that will allow me to have games shipped in.

I know these things are annoying, but its a mandate from the higher ups.

I work in a similar job giving people the sthick. Explaining that having X is a benefit and you should get Y.

I loathe this part of my job. But if I dont do it with every customer, we get scolded reprimanded or fired.

What makes it worse is that the supervisors are totally brainwashed and it goes down to us grunts. We are the ones that have to work the hardest and impress the higher ups. They dont care they just want it done. SALES SALES SALES

which make Stores that compete with each other more compettive/productive.

I don't understand why this bothers people so much. If they don't know you, how are they to know you won't be one to say "hey, yeah i did want to preorder that"? Their job depends on sourcing these referrals. You spend 100x more time and energy getting upset about it than it takes to say "no, thanks".

The pre-owned vs. new - I've never had that pushed at me, but have seen it in some cases with others. Depends on the clerk.
