I can't believe I read that entire thing. I should have listened to the voice in my head that said "your name is not Luke, do not read this."

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I love you so much right now.
Somewhat related and funny:
Led a Bible study today and I got slack (or shit, if you'd like) for not wearing a suit. I did wear a sports coat, button down shirt, grey slacks...in short, I looked fine, but no suit, no tie.
One of our guys joked, "Didn't know it was casual Friday". Laughter ensued.
On "the serious tip", we should all wear suits. Every day.
Random thought: Screw the rules of dining definitions. A sandwich should not be limited to lunch.
That's like saying you can't wake up to listening to Tina Turner.
Actually, that's a terrible analogy. But sandwiches should not be limited to lunch fare.

It also mischaracterizes many people living in the South. I was born in North Carolina, and I live there now. Nonetheless: (1) I refuse to eat at Chik-fil-A; (2) I avoid sweet tea; (3) I do not attend church regularly; and (4) I do not watch college football.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I can't believe I read that entire thing. 1) I would only refuse to eat at Chik Fil A because their prices are dumb. I mean, great fried food, but not my bag of tea.prfsnl_gmr wrote: (1) I refuse to eat at Chik-fil-A; (2) I avoid sweet tea; (3) I do not attend church regularly; and (4) I do not watch college football.
2) Or is sweet tea avoiding you? How does one avoid a beverage?
3) I thought the stereotype for Southerners was avoiding trying to avoid church.
4) You should maybe follow WCU or App State. They usually stink, but when they're good...oh boy they can make you a happy fellow. Plus, betting on college football is like adopting a son you only see a dozen times a year.

I don't eat there because it is a privately-held company that donates to groups I find abhorrent.Luke wrote:1) I would only refuse to eat at Chik Fil A because their prices are dumb. I mean, great fried food, but not my bag of tea.
I avoid sweet tea by not creating it, drinking it, or ordering it.Luke wrote:2) Or is sweet tea avoiding you? How does one avoid a beverage?
Fair enough.Luke wrote:3) I thought the stereotype for Southerners was avoiding trying to avoid church.
I admire App State's program, but I have no connection to the university. I also find watching other people play sports (including football) to be incredibly dull and time-consuming. (I love playing sports, however, and football is one of my very favorites.) I do, however, check scores on Monday morning for a few of my past and present "home" teams.Luke wrote:4) You should maybe follow WCU or App State. I live in the deep south, I can confirm all of this is absolutely true.cnn wrote:The South is known for taking a lot of things seriously, like Chick-fil-A, sweet tea and church on Sundays. But let's not forget the most important thing of all: College football.
The only part I'm personally guilty of though is sweet tea. Whenever I travel up north I'm stuck with shitty unsweetened tea everywhere I go. At restaurants the waiters always say, "Just put sugar in it." No, it doesn't work that way. Adding sugar to pre-brewed cold tea is like adding oil to water, it just doesn't mix right.

I feel I'm pretty justified in not feeling comfortable eating at a franchise that indirectly opposes my existence.
Plus I don't care for chicken sandwiches anyways.

That article is down pat about the ideas of dress in the SEC though, I've literally never seen a female student not dressed up for game day. For the men, I've seen some in t-shirts, but it usually goes polo/button down/pearl snap and the cleanest jeans you can get.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I just learned an incredibly useful keyboard shortcut for Windows 7.
WINKEY+SHIFT+LEFT or RIGHT ARROW
This will shunt the current window around to your other monitor(s). No dragging, no fumbling around if you can't currently see it, like if you're shifting something to a secondary TV output you might not have line of sight to.
